Beware when you shop at Target.

Items like pillows, razors, dishes, et al, CANNOT be returned if used.

Other places do have a satisfaction guarantee. Shop there instead.

Even walmart :( allows returns on tested items. :wow: You'd think they'd be the twig-stuck-up-there type, but nope - it's Target this time...

3. Understandable, but chew on this:

Customers have a right to return a product they don't like. Otherwise somebody is getting money wrongfully.

If Target has an issue, let them return the product to Norelco. Target claims they work for the community and all that, right? Why waste the consumer's time by making us do more work than we have to, especially in this day and age?

Or should people simply make returns; tell Target "this is defective" and see how far they get? :evilgrin:

I do see your point, but there are other issues afoot. One the customer shouldn't have to be held liable for. The cost of shipping to Norelco, assuming they would do a refund, means the customer has lost $8~$20 for the cost of materials, time, gas, and cost of UPS or whomever to ship back the thing -- and hope it gets through and the refund actually made (4-8 weeks later).

A big chance to read others' opinions, especially the negative ones. If there's a common theme amongst the negative folks, I tend to stay away. (and it's too easy to tell who the shills are too...)

I do pity the stores; I can fathom a potential for abuse by customers as well.

16. There is abuse from customers.

I've worked at places that have had to tighten up their return policies due to customers trying to scam the store. Hell, there's even been a couple customers who I've seen flat out banned from returns due to their constant attempts at scamming, as in eat most of a product then try to return the remaining ounce...and they'd try to pull that shit a few times a week. And no, they didn't need the money. This was in a very affulent area with customers driving luxury cars.

2. i returned used stuff....

I returned a used cake taker. The cake taker, is the cake pan with a lid to cover it. well when i went to put the lid on, the cake was too high, and it would have ruined the icing. They should have accounted for that when manufacturing, and that's what i told them at target, and they gave me my money back.

Just like it's illegal to return earrings, but some places do. That is illegal AND disgusting. I'd rather shop at Target over Walmart any day. They also have nicer stuff than Mall*Wart.

Target has quite nice looking clothes. WAY better than Wal*Mart clothes, no offence to anyone that likes Wal*Mart clothes (hard pressed to find anyone on DU that likes Wal*Mart (gee, this * thing b/w the "Wal" and the "Mart" is getting really tiring)...).

I'm too small for the Mall*Wart clothes. Most of them seem to be for "plus sizes" and I'm a tiny person. I prefer shopping at thrift stores for cheap clothes over either place personally. At least, Target has stuff for people of a healthy weight.

Wow. Half-understandable as there are ways to test how things look before buying them... and it does get stuck inside a person and it's hard to claim an earring as defective. Never mind a person could buy the earrings just for one event, then return them. That's not nice either.

But Target and walmart sell the same items; both name-brand and "store" brand. Having done a small amount of analysis, the "store brand" items at each store is the same entity; pre-packaged in the label the individual chain wants. Except Target's cost ~15% more... Name brand items are cheaper at walmart, but typically by a couple of dimes only. Hardly a savings in my book; but their sales come more from the store-brand garbage than anything else.

But, sadly, it is all the same.

That would be the same reason razors can't be returned. Actually Target & Walmart don't sell the same stuff. Target has nicer looking housewares & clothes. Plus, the Walmarts by me sell animals in a very cruel fashion. Target sells animal supplies, but no animals. So no, they don't sell the same stuff.

17. I mostly agree...

I've seen the clothes at walmart. Mostly rags, I agree.

However, Target and other places like Kohls (and even Daytons) sell the same garments but stitch in a different "brand" label. It's amusing how the same pair of slacks goes for $19 at Target as brand "Cherokee" whereas at Dayton's it's $69 for some posh name I don't care about...

And Target, Kohls, and the rest, sell the same current styles too. The usual gimmick I just mentioned. At Kohls and having seen the $40 denim blue jeans that look as if somebody's already been doing who-knows-what in them because the jeans look clearly used, especially on the legs, I have to wonder... Indeed, imitation mud stains?!?! Should I whip out my black light for any other special ingredients, imitation or otherwise, too?! :rofl:

Also at Kohls, I always wait for clearance. It's all low quality fluff with a posh name, but $45 for a "Made in China" sport coat beats the $175 it originally sold for -- and probably worth no more than $20 in the first place.

20. I think there is probably some difference in quality.

For example, people claim that Old Navy is exactly the same as the Gap because they have kind of the same style and the same parent company. I disagree, because I DESTROY Old Navy clothes, but Gap clothes last forever. So basically, I find the price difference to be worth it to me. The only time I buy Old Navy is if something is on clearance...usually little boys polo shirts. I find the quality between Gap and Banana Republic to be pretty comparable though. I'm at a size where I can get great deal at BR, if I look though. I've bought $90 shirts on clearance for $12-20 there before.
