I think I have found my long lost cat! "Miss Moo"!
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 08:17 AM by yellowdogintexas
Some of you may remember in one of our many cat discussions the story of sweet Miss MOO who left our home because she could not stand her much larger brothers. They were just playing too roughly with her; she was a very petite kitty and they are big behemoth cats.

Last night I was caretaking my daughter's dog and we went walking. Lady around the corner was out in her yard and shouted out a compliment to my handsome "granddog", so we went over to meet her. As these things go one comment led to another and she started telling about this cat who just moved in on them about a year ago after hanging about for another 6 months..
'what color?' 'grey tabby and white' ...'petite?'
'Yes'.

Let me see this cat! So kitty came out and I am so sure it is Miss MOo and SO HAPPY SHE HAS A HAPPY PLACE TO LIVE!!!!!!! The lady was very nice and quite a lot of fun. We will visit again, I am sure. I have decided if it isn't miss Moo, I don't care she meets all qualifications: age, color, size and this cat was spayed already, which of course miss Moo was fixed. A happy day in the neighbor hood.

CATS ON A BED!!!

Moo at about 6 months of age with brothers. She is the one with the white fur.

2. yes, and I b elieve that was her objective.
Her new person told me that she had been sighted at their end of the block for about six months before she adoped their house first and then them.

Now here is the funny part; I was telling about how her gargantuan brothers played too roughly with her etc. and how different they looked..and she told me that every so often she will see this very big grey cat and almost as big black cat in the yard diagonally across the street from her ..they sit and stare at Moo and she sits in her driveway and puffs herself up at them and does the whole my yard not yours thing that cats do so well. That is Lewis and Clark, her big brothers.

Too funny..and I didn't know my boys ranged that far. I know where they go because I see them coming from their favorite hidey holes.

I am just happy she is OK. Can't wait to show her to my husband. I am debating whether to tell him, or just take a walk and casually visit this new friend and our old cat!

3. What a great story!
I think the red cat I had a few years ago got sick of trying to get someone to open the downstairs door to let him into our new digs and went to find an easier access to his food bowl. That, or the family next door took him when they moved out of town.

Funny how they can switch allegiances when their comforts are being jeopardized. Hope you have lots of visits with her.

4. I plan to! I actually think her new person is someone I would
like to get to know.
I can be fairly certain she isn't a fundy Republican, as there was a Kinky for Governor why the hell not sticker on her car!

I may try to sway her over to Chris Bell before November.

6. Do you have a separate bed for the cats?
How could you possibly fit on that bed with all the critters? They are very beautiful!

I'm so happy you found Miss Moo. You know she's safe and has a good home -- I think the not knowing what happened to a wayward pet is the worst. And she probably did choose your neighbor -- cats have a way of knowing a good deal when they see it. One of my former cats, Clancy, went gaga over my sister when she visited. I was living in Chicago then, she was in CA. She took him home with her and he lived very happily with her for nearly 10 years.

May Sarton has a nice little book called "The Fur Person" written from the cat's perspective. An alley cat decides that living on the street is too hard and dangerous and decides to find himself a "housekeeper."

9. well, it is a king sized waterbed. Now there have been times
when they crowd up around me and push me to the edge or
pin me down under the quilt, but there is plenty of room.

The remaining siblings from that litter are very large cats. 16, 14 and 13 pounds each. My old Siamese weighs around 11.
