Is it weird to eat onions raw?
Post something you do that you think is weird but might not be.

1. I eat spaghettios with potato chips
not often, mind you, but when I do, I use Lay's potato chips to scoop them up. Always have

2. Raw onions are yummy; and so are raw potatos.
Hardly 'weird' in my book.

from your own garden. YUM YUM.

41. I once had a coworker who couldn't believe I ate them raw.
What was odd: she was a rural NC gal, born and bred.

She didn't bat an eye when I talked about squirrel stew,
or how I decide whether or not roadkilled deer are
fresh enough to take home to eat...

But I ate a slice of raw potato in front of her, and suddenly
she thought I was a weirdo.

Wendy's fries dunked in Frosty is quite the thing around here. My daughter and her friends have done this for years

It's a staple of Persian and other Middle Eastern cuisines. Maybe we're weird for cooking them. ;-)

I like them either way
Depending on what their role is. Walla Walla Sweets are the BEST onions ever, and can be eaten raw easily. They live up to their name. :-)

22. Each color has different varieties
Walla Walla Sweet onions are from the Walla Walla region of southeastern Washington state. They are seasonal and usually available in the western U.S. far more readily than other regions. They are a white onion. :-)

25. They are still onions
Not wildly different than others. Just sweeter and have much less of a "bite"... although not absent of one.

can't eat raw onions...and I love this time of year when vidalias are everywhere, but I gotta grill them to at least opaque to enjoy them without severe consequences.

14. Salsa on pickles & Smithwick's ale w/fresh cracked black pepper
One of my stepsisters made me try the salsa and pickles. The beer thing was taught to me by my friend, who learned it from a colonel in the Marines, so we call it "The Colonel." He's a really nice guy and he thought it was cool that we named it after him, so whenever he sees me drinking it, he pays for it.

24. Yeah, he said it started when he was a kid and his dad took him out for
his first beer. He ordered it, a Smithwick's because that's what his dad was having, and the waitress said, "You'll have pepper on that son." And she brought him back a Smithwick's with pepper and he's been drinking it that way ever since. To me he exemplifies what a soldier should be: polite, strong, and judges people based on their character.

36. ACtually, that should be an RCCola to be the true Southern
thing. I do not like to put my peanuts IN my drink but I love Coke and Peanuts as a snack.

It is most definitely a Southern Thing and may have evolved from being handy when one is driving a tractor or stick shift pickup or field truck around, you can eat your peanuts and drink your soda and still have a hand free to shift.

even tho the ole boys around home did the RC thing. And you have RC and Moonpie for dessert! But you don't put the MoonPie in the RC, of course.

the BEST Welsh Rarebit with xtra sharp cheddar. Serve that hot thick wonderful stuff on saltines with onions and dill pickles.

DIVINE. My husband nicknamed it "Dorothy Nachos" after my mother.
