VERY disappointed in my pet bird..........
Freaked out in her cage when I introduced her to my Mom ("Grandma") for the first time.
She's usually so people friendly.....I wonder if she smelled dog on my Mom?

Anyhoo.........showing my Mom my apartment, and the bird freaked. So embarrassed. :(

1. Embarrassed should be reserved
for pooping on Grandma. ;-)

Mine used to be kind of off and on; would sometimes jump excitedly on people (parcel delivery people used to get a bit freaked), to hissing and squawking at others.

2. She flew onto the computer monitor and pooped there....
But then again, she was a little bitchy with me as well. :(

6. Or your cockateil screaming "HELL!!!" at a priest.
I used to have a cockatiel that was a great whistler, but the only thing he was ever trained to say was "Hello" which he did use as a greeting (we'd say hello whenever going into the room or near the cage and he picked it up). However, if he was over stimulated, it would end up being like, "Hello! Hello! Hell! Hell!" etc. My mom took my pets to the blessing of the animals (even though I told her my pets were atheists) and as my cockateil is getting splashed with the holy water his "Hello" made the excited switch to "Hell!" The priest made a comment about the bird needing a good blessing and I just cracked up laughing.

5. I doubt she smelled "dog" because they don't have a strong nose
Birds freak out for the weirdest reasons.

Usually they want to come and play with me though. I have a bunch of earrings that seem to attract pet birds. Unfortunately, their curiousity has led to almost getting a few new holes on occaision.

9. my bird freaks out about innanimate objects
anything larger than a box that I bring in my cabin he goes beserk...he can't stand a change in scenery of any kind.

I had a conure that had a problem with just about everyone, including me, but especially a relative that had a beard. I don't know what went on in either of my bird's pasts as they were both rescues, so I just kind of try to give them space to freak out about things if they need to and not worry about it.

10. was your mom wearing red?
a lot of birds are insulted and offended by that kind of thing

also could be your mom has a physical resemblance to someone the bird dislikes or remembers w. ill will from when she was young (assuming you didn't breed the bird yourself)

11. LOL.........Mom looks like me.........
I think she was freaked out because she's not used to people in "our" apartment.

I haven't had people over yet. :)
