Was I delurious when I saw the newspaper article about Nixon?

Forgive my spelling above, especially if I got it wrong...

It said Nixon gave the actual go-ahead for the Watergate scandal.

When I saw it, I wasn't shocked or surprised.

I know not all Democrats are pristine, but the repukes take the cake in terms of doing rotten deeds. Pawlenty, Nixon, Reagan, oh my... and Bush. I think they're all self-centered and hypocritical.

6. There's an accusation about Nixon in a book I'm reading

that I never heard before. The book is "The Red and the Blacklist" by Norma Barzman, a memoir of her years in exile from the US because of the blacklist. She and her husband Ben, both screenwriters, were active members of the Communist Party in the years just after the war. One of their friends was hauled before a counsel representing "a California Congressman" on HUAC and offered to have the charges dropped for $16,000. Their friend declined. Barzman makes clear she thought the quid pro quo was offered on behalf of Nixon, and that he must have made this offer to nine other potential witnesses, planning to score an easy $150,000 after giving his lawyer a "percentage."
