9. Nope, not in school
Finally escaped The System when I was 36. :-)

And, nope, my university (at least, the computers I used) didn't seem to have any filtering except that certain usenet newgroups were censored out, before the Web hit and changed it all.

29. Yeah..talk about some potent personal chemistry
She was the best-matched of his leading ladies. Casting Nancy Sinatra in Speedway was a poor attempt to recapture that magic.

He was involved with Ann Margret for about a year, I think, though they stayed close to the end (she was at his funeral, along with Roger Smith) and he sent her flowers every time she opened in Vegas. Lots of people think he should have married her, instead of Priscilla -- I don't know if two such dynamic people with busy entertainment careers could have held a marriage together, but I do like the idea.

Ann Margret's like Elvis -- eternal. :loveya:

16. Elvis question
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 11:58 PM by idgiehkt
Is it true Elvis said he'd slept with all of his leading ladies except for one? I can't remember where I heard that.

edit: lol, merh and I have our minds in the same gutter.

21. Well, the statement's may at least be partly true but I'm not sure if it's
attributed to Elvis, himself (he'd never say it in public, but could have said it to one of his entourage), or someone who knew him during the movie years.

I do know that Mary Tyler Moore said something very much like it and claims she was the sole exception and that Elvis treated her like a sister, though I've also read stories from other of his leading ladies who seemed to enjoy not a romantic but a brotherly relationship with Elvis (sometimes he went for supporting players, anyway, rather than the leading lady), so I'm sure the quote's not entirely true.

37. contagious? I never thought about the tuberculosis angle, lol.
it was silly, I know. He's a cop now, he married my best friend from the third grade. I called him once a few years ago and then he started calling me and wouldn't stop. Like every few days, while he was at work. His wife got pissed. It was a mess. I didn't call him for that reason. Why I am talking about this I know not.

38. Must have been his infectious smile
Though it sounds like he was the one who got re-innoculated with his feelings for you...that kind of thing doesn't seem unusual (something similar happened to a friend of mine not so long ago) and some of it's maybe him wanting to go back to the years when he felt he was really happy. But we're all different, in some ways (good ways, I hope, among the rest) than in high school and there's no going back...not really. It's an illusion, albeit sometimes one that'd be nice to visit.

39. It stunned me.
Cause she's gorgeous and they had just had a baby, I think their daugther was 2 months old. I really didn't know how to handle it so I just didn't. I didn't take the calls, I let the machine pick them up. It kind of hurt me because this guy is top notch, salt of the earth. I've really actually never had a bad 'boyfriend experience' or whatever, and he was the top of the heap. I don't know what was going on, but I didn't want to find out. Maybe you're right about the high school thing. I don't know. They were also in the process of building a house...the whole situation just blew my mind because he seemed so casual about it.

40. Well, I suppose you can still essentially be a good person
and have longings, especially for what (in our minds, if not in reality) at least seemed less complicated times or situations. I'm hardly an expert on human behavior, but I suspect hat something like a new baby (atop the stresses attendant with building a new house) could be one of many reasons for him suddenly wanting to just walk on the whole program. I hope he's on track again, for everyone's sake. And I think you did just the right thing, by not responding, hard though it might have been to experience.

41. well I didn't think about it that way.
that is alot of stress at once. The first and only time I talked to him he was tending to the baby, when the calls kept coming I just didnt' return them. I just wanted him to be happy, because he deserves it above anyone; I've had three serioius boyfriends and everyone of them was salt of the earth. It sucks when you find out someone is not happy that you know deserves to me. Maybe it was just a glitch or something like a seven year itch or something. Hmmm, I haven't thought about it in a long, while, that's what all that Teddy Bear song brings up, which was excellent, by the way, thank you for that and Don't Be Cruel, as well. You rock! I have to go to sleep...goodnight!:hi:

42. Not that it's an excuse for his behavior, of course,
but it could be a reason. Yeah, I think the seven-year-itch thing is right. Hopefully all of you can be friends again at some point when it all settles down but, if not, you'll always have high school. And "Teddy Bear"! :D

Thanks again, and goodnight...bodacious dreams! :hi:
