Anyone heard of this car scam in W. Palm Beach?

My sister had her new Honda stolen last week from her condo parking space....she called the police...made a report..a few days later...2 young males knock on her condo door...she answers...they are holding her registration card( it was in the glove compartment)and say that if she pays them $500.00 they will bring her car back...and that her car is being used as a taxi all over West Palm Beach.....she says she has no money...they leave...she calls the police...who say..."yes, that is happening around town"....no action though and no information gathered on these thugs.

The balls of these creeps.....I can imagine some folks have paid the extortion money....and... may or may not have gotten the cars back.............

By the way...The car was recovered...trashed inside but the outside had not been wrecked.
