what does the term motherfucker mean to you?
I suppose I'm old school but to me it means fucking your mother, or someone else doing it.

I had a thread locked because of this question. surprising to me.
If an actor/movie conglomerate can race that word about with hilarity, why can't I ask what the fuck this term really means, and who it demeans?

that's the first time i ever typed that :o

your thread most likely got locked because it was considered a 'sex thread' which aren't allowed on DU. when referring to "f*cking one's mother", you are implying a sexual act which is forbidden here :scared:

due to the age of certain DU'ers.....

this one will get locked too :o

8. that's a good start at an explanation...
so Jackson can Mofo all over the place because it's not 'sexual', it's just a blip of word that has got nothing to do with sex and has been diluted to be acceptable.

motherfucker means fucking a mother.
it's sex when I ask about this, but it's not when .... ?

5. MoFo ( for short) has a broad base now.

It's used so much, and in so many different situations,
it's a noun, an adjective, etc. that it's light years away
from it's original definition. IMHO

6. So what does dickhead mean?
Does that mean he has a penis for a head? Or that he's an enormous walking glans?

7. Depends on the context...
As a general slang term, motherfucker has almost no meaning in and of itself anymore.

9. I'm no prude when it comes to language
but this is one I don't use. It justs seems beyond the pale to me for some reason. I know Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino disagree, but this word is where I draw the line.
