Here's the original thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x5511018In a nutshell, my rant was that
Sankes on a Plane was obviously going to be a very bad movie, but, due to a clever yet cynical marketing campaign, it was going to be a huge hit. I claimed that this would be bad for movies in general.
In that thread, I got into a tift with GirlInContempt, who quite rightly pointed out that I hadn't seen the film yet, so who was I to pass judgement. I responded pompously that due to my vast moviegoing experience, I could tell that SOAP was going to suck simply by how it was marketed.
I also bet her that if it scored above a 15% on the tomatometer at Rotten Tomatoes (www.rottentomatoes.com), that I would spend my hard-earned money and go see it myself.
Well, the early reviews are in, and
Snakes on a Plane is currently scoring a little higher than 15%. In fact, it's scoring a 72%:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/snakes_on_a_plane/While no major critics have review the film yet, the reviews posted confirmed what a lot of you were hoping for:
Sankes on a Plane is a fun, trashy B-movie.
I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but I'll keep my end of the bet. Until then, I stand corrected. I'm a motherfucking ass and there ain't a goddamn thing you can do about it!
