An Inflated BALLOON in my Mailbox !!??!!

Okay, I'm a bit paranoid, stolen DU bumperstickers and Kerry/Edwards lawn signs, etc, over the past couple of years... Is there a significance to finding a "clear" blown up balloon in my mailbox? No it wasn't a condom, nor I'm not sure if it was a balloon, it had no tied end, just a clear bubble balloony thing.

It's a rural style mailbox, on the street, scared the bejeesus out of me!!

Since I didn't pick up my mail til after dark, so wasn't sure what it was, or if it would explode or what !!!??? I did manage to find a stick and prod it out, and it floated harmlessly away. It was also raining, so my mail was dry

But it's been bugging me, somebody tampered with my mailbox. And it's nowhere near my birthday.

So is there a symbol here I'm missing, like a horse's head in my bed, or a dead fish at my door?

In my part of the country, mailbox pranksters, just smash the hell out of it, and we go "oh those pesky kids". This is indeed strange.

Postal authorities view such tampering with stone faces set to do battle!

I had a little wimp bothering my box and others. The kid thinks he can just pop it open at will. Postal authorities sent a letter to his parents, cc moi, that the next abuse will get a thorough investigation.

Two years later, no problems and the authorities kept the complaint anonymous.

I can't think of what it would symbolize so I wonder if it was just a weird prank. I would ask the neighbors if anything weird was put into their mailboxes.

12. It was a smooth round orb of some sort....

...as it floated away, I saw no seams or tie-off or a valve...I know I paid attention. Okay, now I'm freaking myself out even more....I now wish I chased it.

No advertising, political message...my mail was undisturbed. But the mailbox door was definitely in the wide-open position, with this thing hanging half-way out. What's funny , I thought it was a giant toad with it's throat in "mating position", no way, and toads have been extinct in my section of tract homes for years!!!

9. It sounds like these airpaks they used at my old job

for packing breakables for shipping, just a small clear plastic air pillow sealed on both ends the size of a cantaloupe.

Is you mailbox on a shared post or right next to someone else's? Maybe one of your neighbors got something shipped and just stuck the airpak in your box because they didn't want it and they're lazy?
