Now let us praise Jimi Hendrix.....
If you can just get your mind together
Uh-then come on across to me

We'll hold hands and then we'll watch the sunrise

From the bottom of the sea

But first, are you experienced?

Uh-have you ever been experienced-uh?
Well, I have....

(well) I know, I know, you'll probably scream and cry
That your little world won't let you go...

But who in your measly little world, (-uh)
Are you tryin' to prove to that you're
Made out of gold and-uh, can't be sold....

So-uh, are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced? (-uh)
Well, I have...
Uh, let me prove it to you, yeah

Trumpets and violins I can-uh, hear in the distance
I think they're callin' our name
:nopity:

Maybe now you can't hear them,
But you will, ha-ha, if you just
Take hold of my hand....

Ohhh, but are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced?
Not necessarily stoned, but beautiful....
:smoke:

There goes Ezy
Ezy Ryder
Ridin down the highway of desire
He says the free wind
takes him higher
Tryin to find his heaven above
but he's dyin to be loved

He's tellin me livin
is so magic
Something is forever
so he claims
He's talkin' bout lyin
it's so tragic baby
But don't you worry bout today
we got freedom comin' our way

5. I remember the impression he first made upon me...
Back in '79, I was 12... a friend of mine had his "Essential Vol. 1" collection, and put on "Purple Haze". :wow: Within little time, I had all of his albums which were released in his lifetime, and now have them on CD. "Axis: Bold As Love" is my favorite of the Experience albums, especially for "Spanish Castle Magic", "Little Wing", "If 6 Was 9", and "One Rainy Wish". Also love the underrated "Band of Gypsys" album.

He was born in Seattle, and is buried at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in nearby Renton. Any time a friend from back east came to visit, we made the pilgrimage, which was a scant 10 miles or so from my place. He used to have this very simple marker in the ground. Part of a family plot - his grandmother is next to him, and she died in 1984 at the age of 100! The groundskeepers couldn't keep the grass maintained at his marker - they accepted the fact it was the most visited spot at the cemetery. Another fun fact - he attended Garfield High in Seattle, but dropped out - yet the school library has a bust in his honor.

Unfortunately, Jimi's idiot stepsister got this huge, tacky memorial erected, for him and all the family members. It wasn't completed the last time I was there, but it is this round, columned structure with a statue of him in the middle. It's also in another part of the cemetery. I liked the fact he was modest (despite his flashy image) in real life, and had a simple, modest marker.

His stepsister used to be a customer of mine when I worked at B&N. Real arrogant and made sure she told everyone who she was. She waited until Jimi's dad died before starting that mess. His dad fought for YEARS to obtain the rights to his son's legacy, and she sqaundered it quickly after he died on the memorial.

RIP, Jimi, wherever you may be...

7. Jimi was not of this earth. Light years ahead of everyone.
Not before or since he graced this planet has anyone measured up to him. I think about him every day, and play something of his almost every day.
