A Navy recruiter just called asking for my stepson.
She must have heard he's in college. She wanted to talk to him about an "exciting career as a Naval Officer."

I told her: first, he doesn't live here anymore, and second, he's not signing up for military service as long as we are killing innocent people in Iraq.

I know I was tough on her; part of me regrets being so harsh to what may have been a very nice, smart patriotic young woman. But SHE called ME. Nobody asked her to call my number looking for good Germans to fight for the Fatherland.

I'm still steaming. At her and at myself. :grr:

2. Maybe I should have told her to take my stetson instead.
Hey, the military is big on hats. B-)
