The prednisone my cat has been taking is making her round

I though this was another nick name for the Chimperor. Then I read the rest of the thread's title and was quite confused for all of a half second. Being dead tired has it's advantages. :silly:

3. Is she eating a lot more? My dog gained weight. Talk to your vet.

I ended up giving my dog Benadryl for 2 nights, then prednisone for 1, and so on.

4. Asthma?

My beloved, late Chester had it and was on pred for several years, at varying doses. We never knew how old he was, but he was a big boy. Prednisone is supposed to cause kidney problems and we always checked his levels religiously, but in the end, he passed from pancreatic cancer at a very ripe old age (we think 16 to 18). He was docile enough that we were able to give him breathing treatments using an infant device (ask your vet if this is an option - this was very helpful during spring and fall, when his asthma was really bad). 5. yes, diagnosed just last month

She won't be on the prednisone much longer. We're moving her to accolate. It's more expensive, but it's less dangerous to her heart.

6. Prednisone has a lot of side effects. I'm glad to hear you are moving her

off of it onto something else. Are they telling you to gradually decrease the prednisone, or just stop it cold one day? With people, it has to be tapered off slowly.
