Kansas (rock group) appreciation thread

Can I tell you something?

Got to tell you one thing...

If you expect a freedom

that you say is yours...

Prove that you deserve it.

Help us to preserve it,

or being free will just be

words and nothing more...

I love the early Kansas.
What say you?

1. I liked 'em...
Before Kerry Livgren went all holy-roller...

Classic 1970's prog-ish rock from the heartland!

3. They were on fire when they first started out, making all of the big
stadium festivals. I saw them play around Lawrence and Kansas City before their first album came out. Was really sorry to seem them go downhill musically, (progressively speaking) after their third album.

4. Ilove just about everything they did on their first two albums,
and about half of their thirs. Can I tell you, Belexes, Journey to Mariabronne, Bring it on Back, and Death of Mother Nature Suite, from their debut album kicked ass.

Saw them about a dozen times in a three year period. They put on one hell of a show.

5. I never got to see them live
I always thought Steve Walsh was one of the better singers in the prog rock genre.

9. They're still around. I saw them live a few years ago. Still a great band.
Actually, they're better, now that the fundy guitar player/songwriter is gone.

7. Just a great progressive rock group from the heartland. They
burst onto the music scene nationally in 1973. Check out some of their music, if you like power progressive rock. Their biography is on allmusic.com.

Wisconsin. $5 tickets.
It was great.
