What scares you?
or makes you just nervous?

It seems like I spend my days being nervous. All day at work I'm nervous. My blood pressure is off the charts.

What makes you nervous or scared?

and I now have a job where I go to work in a building with no windows.

I am freaking out internally, but trying not to, because I need this job.

8. That would be my choice too.
What can I say? I know the human species and I have seen enough to know it is in my best interest to fear it.

5. Nothing, actually. And that's NOT a good thing, believe me.
A psychiatrist once told me that I have a "pathological lack of fear." In dangerous situations, I get VERY focused, but not afraid.

You can imagine the kind of trouble that's caused me throughout life, I'll bet.

12. Yeah, but I'm also a maniac and have ADD, so there's no telling what
tangent I'll be off on next.

Though things have quieted down since I got married. Mrs R told me in no uncertain terms that if I'm in a perfectly good airplane, I have to STAY IN IT until it lands.

Dang.

25. I kind of thought that about you
just from watching you post around here. At lot of times I've seen you post about things that you've encountered and the thought runs through my head "this guy does *not* back down". I wish I was like that, but honestly I've never been in a position where my fight or flight response has ever kicked in, so who knows? Well, at least not with people. I'm not a huge fan of when the moths fly in my face while I'm mowing the lawn. Full disclosure and all :)

he's essentially oblivious.

No, you do NOT want to be like that. Trust me.

9. Bees.
Last time I was stung I nearly died and I've been on a quest to eradicate them from my yard ever since. It's a losing fight because I'm surrounded by organic gardeners; not that I'm complaining as I love the free produce and I'm a vegetarian so I won't have to go grocery shopping again until November at the earliest.

I don't drive myself and being a pedestrian or even a passenger in a car really freaks me out at times. I get very tense in cars. My biggest fear is dying in a crash.

15. Spiders.
I routinely do stupid shit which could result in severe bodily harm. Doesn't faze me. I see the tiniest spider and I'm screaming for someone to kill it for me.

Upon being presented with a rock wall on a poison ivy covered granite island that is directly above shallow rocky water...
Me: I could climb this.
(gets up a few feet & comes back down)
Me: Yeah, that's really dangerous to do in flip flops. Here Ginny, hold my flip flops and meet me at the top.
(Successfully scales wall)

Upon seeing a tiny spider...
Me: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! SPIDER!!!! I NEED SOMEBODY TO KILLLLLL IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't figure out about his stuff because alot of it looks like it is supposed to be dated before the widespread use of electricity yet all the buildings are so lit up. And candles don't provide that much light. Must be the aura of holiness coming off of the fundies or something...

I used to be absolutely terrified of flying but I got over it.

Spiders, snakes, bugs are all OK with me except for very large centipedes, which creep me out.

Those kinds of things.......

30. Heights.
But not all heights. I can climb mountains that about it for heights. I hate tall buildings, and ladders. Any thing that one can fall from. I feel safe on mountains because the base is so solid. I don't know if this make any sense. I have nightmares all the time that I'm falling from something.

31. Heights and crowds. And two more years....
Heights includes balconies, steps without backs, glass elevators, bridges, overpasses, overlooks, amusement parks, and even seeing someone else in a high place. It's mostly height with nothing underneath that causes me to get weak-kneed and breathe rapidly.

Crowds.... being closely surrounded by people scares me. Also I cannot walk into a crowded room-- that gives me a panic attack.

And two more years of the * administration scares the crap out of me.

32. Roaches.
Parasites.

Occasionally, something I read/watch or something in real life makes me jumpy for a day or two (or, in the case of one of my suitemates last year, half a semester), but no real phobias other than the above.

When I'm jumpy or run into an example of phobia #1 (hopefully, I'll never encounter anything from phobia #2), my response is to find a weapon/something that can be used as a weapon. Has a calming effect on me, y'know?

Pain. Not physical pain, I've got an alarmingly high tolerance for that. Emotional pain. My tolerance there is very, very low. Doesn't take much. And it ain't gonna happen again, not if I can help it.
