My father is in the hospital.
He's been sick since Saturday. His doctor said he has some sort of viral infection, but they can't seem to pinpoint what. There's a big concern that it's west nile, now that malaria has been ruled out.
He's incredibly ill, and today his hands and arms started going numb, and he was hospitalized. They still haven't figured out what's wrong with him, but 5 days and he still isn't feeling any better.
I'm so worried about him. He already has high blood pressure, and drinks too much. It's very very scary, especially considering statistics about men in his shape and serious viral infections.

I don't know what i'd do without my dad. I'm just really upset. And scared.

7. Hope your father gets well soon!
My co-worker's father got West Nile. It was difficult for him, being older, but he did survive it (he lives in Illinois). We've already had 5 confirmed cases in Dallas, TX this summer and they are spraying now. Anyway, I hope he feels better soon.

17. Sadly, right now
there's nothing I can do, which makes me feel worse. Mum is at the hospital with Dad, but I can't go because he's in for tests and they may isolate him. Till something changes, I'm stuck here, worrying.

14. I wish I could be there to hold your hand.
To be standing beside your dad while he's lying in a hospital bed. Well, I can't imagine how hard it is. I know how much my dad means to me. I know you're worried. Listen, sometimes it seems to take a while before everything stabilizes again. I'm not a doctor, but if it helps you feel calmer, my aunt at one point could barely move or speak. It did take some time, 2 weeks, before she was out of bed and on her feet again.

I'm going to be sending you good thoughts, and your dad too. A big hug, and love from me.

21. Thanks. You are too.
I know the frustration right now because there's a woman close to my family who's been ill for 2 weeks, only recently feeling better. The doctors are still trying to figure that out. It makes you want to go look at the Merck Manual yourself, for that matter.

We'll try to distract you when you need it, and we'll always be here to listen.

70. sending all good vibes
it may well be west nile, i had a very similar neurological symptom -- numbness in the arms -- if this is the case, don't give up hope, a FULL recovery is very possible and honestly even LIKELY -- for a comparison point i have low blood pressure and i also drink -- i don't see blood pressure/drinking as having any relevance, of course i'm not a doctor, but i'm just not seeing the relevance of worrying about his lifestyle which has nothing to do with -- in any case odds are greatly in his favor

another cool thing, once he's had it, he can't get it again, so he can get back to being outdoors and doing his thing w. no worries, as a birder this was a VERY big deal for me

85. I'll be thinking about and praying for you and your dad, and all who love
him...
Will also pray that the doctors can figure this out and treat it appropriately.
I know how scary these situations can be...hubby survived flesh-eating bacteria a couple of years ago, and it was hellish...

Love and peace to you and yours...

86. Having been on the IV side of this situation....
Just be there for him...

That helped me immensely....

To see familiar faces and the touch of a family member...

I know I don't have to tell you that...
