Project Runway for August 16th
This show is my guilty pleasure!
I have some favourites this season and a few I can't stand. Looking forward to tonight and am hoping bony chest goes home!

Any body want to comment?

1. Bony chest?
I'll be glad when Jeffrey's gone. I think he is pretty predictable

3. SPOILER ALERT!
Unfortunately, that douchebag Jeffrey did not get "auf'd" tonight. Allison was knocked out tonight, even though Vincent probably deserved it more.

4. Michael Kors seems to make the ultimate decision
or at least, his opinion seems to have more weight than that of the others. AND, he wasn't there when Allison did well and Vincent did awful (except for last week). So, she didn't get any credit for the past (e.g., poodle outfit)

I think she was robbed though, and penalized for being a "female designer" who made a model look like a "fat Minnie Mouse"

But last week Angela totally deserved a smackdown--if you fuck up a machine, you can't just say "whoops" and then move on to another.

64. his dress was fantastic last night
but he's a total jerk. And every show he complains throughout the process that everyone's work is inferior to his, then his face twists in shock and self-pity when someone else is declared the winner. Then he whines about not being the winner. It's a fun pattern to watch.

6. who do you think the 'everyday woman' for next week's challenge will be?
They showed her shadow on the previews for next week's show.

I liked Laura's dress tonight- it was beautifully cut. Jeffrey's was imaginative, however, I just can't stand the guy. I thought Michael's was gorgeous. That top he designed was beautiful. I am hoping he makes it to the final 3, just so I can see his full runway collection. he seems to be really talented.

7. Crazy decisions
As much as I dislike Jeffrey, his dress was good.

What is the deal with Vincent? I haven't seen anything but weirdness from him and they keep him around. Alison's dress wasn't great but she didn't deserve to get auffed.

I just don't appreciate Laura's style. Ulli seems pretty dependable. Michael is very talented but tonight I thought Jeffrey should have won. Angela....meh.

I adore Kayne and Robert. Here is a really great site:

16. Vincent is this season's "Monkey." Let me explain...
All of these elimination shows have one main contestant who gets kept
around for comic relief (like J. Fred Muggs).

Vincent is my pick for this season's monkey. They'll keep him around for a
few more weeks, unless Jeffrey turns into the monkey... I think he's figured
out that playing the production might keep him in the running.

I was sad to see Allison go. One mistake, and she's out? Come on. She just wasn't
production-value material.

21. I have to ask (again)
Vincent said "Why don't you go put some Harry Winston's up your nose" to Laura. My wife and I were rolling laughing but we weren't even sure what that meant (the delivery was priceless).

Did he mean Harry Winston the jewelry designer? (thanks google) or something else?

Allison is a cutie pie but I think that works against her in the world of fashion.

Is it just me or does Vincent remind you of William Devane?

I never really know what Vincent is talking about, but the "diamond"
remark really was funny.

I have to admit that I like Laura, although she will never be
considered "fashion forward."

I'd still like to see her collection.

40. EXACTLY
Except for the 2nd week when Malan was ousted, everytime a Kook us up against a quiet person you can always guarentee the quiet person is going to be booted out of the game. That's the only explanation for why Vincent and Angela are still around (although Angela has calmed her stuff down)

65. not only are Vince's designs weird, but he totally believes in them
which is fine--he's got a definite viewpoint and he believes in it and loves it and more power to him. But he consistently winds up in the bottom three, even though he consistently is "wowed" by his own work. So it should be clear by now that, while he has a distinct vision that he believes in, it just doesn't match up with where the judges are looking.

8. Laura's designs and tailoring are good, though.
Perhaps too "classic" but really quite good. I cannot fathom why she insists on showing her bony chest/ribcage and boobs all the time. Near the end today when she was harping on Vincent her left tit almost fell out of her dress. Very unflattering. Esp. because she slouches so much her boobs are at her waist.

Michael's great, and Uli is pretty interesting. I cannot stand Jeffrey, though tonight's dress was great. Allison was sweet, but her dress tonight did suck. Don't know who I'd have auf'd, her or Vincent.

And I know Bradley often bombed with his designs, but he had such a quirky sense of humor, I really liked him. I know he had to go, but I wish he'd been able to pull off the Cher outfit.

63. I'm going to comment to myself, and disagree with my initial opinion
that Allison's dress sucked. It actually didn't, it was quite well-constructed, but I think her styling choice (the bow of hair) was awful. I wish she'd stayed on, though I know Vincent is better for the drama/conflict of the show. But there's enough shit hurled around by Jeffrey, and snarky comments from Robert, that I'd think the judges could have kept someone with talent - better for the show's credibility.

But Vincent's dress was ridiculous. And Laura pointed that out to him (while her boob hung out of her sweater, almost).

And Laura is getting a little boring with her designs - no chances taken at all. She's a tailo/seamstress, not a designer at this point b/c I've really seen nothing new from her at all.

10. the wrong person was kicked off!!! *vague spoiler inside*
:grr:

It was the other person from the bottom two that should have been booted off. What's worse? A dress that adds 5 lbs or a dress that a woman is incapable of walking in? And to tell the one that was booted that she should have known better when designing trash for the female form because she was female is complete bullshit. Like I said, at least her model could WALK! Much less sit and do all other functions expected of a human being.

You get to judge them
http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/rate/

I thought for once Jeffrey's design looked good and probably should have won. Michaels was good and very imaginative. I was very surprised that Ulli's wasn't one of the top picks it looked great and used the materials well. Laura's was well tailored but boring.

Vincent's looked like an envelope that some kid used as a craft project. Allisons was a weird with that fin coming off of the one shoulder and she really should have made the bustier work better. Considering that Vincent has been in the worst category almost every time he should finally go, Allison got ripped.

And then, Laura went batshit crazy on Vincent while Allison was standing there saying goodbye. Her sense of timing on things like that is horrendous. Could she not have waited five more minutes to dig into Vincent?

First, don't kid yourself that the judges are the only ones picking who goes. Check the end of the show and they even mention that producers are also involved.

Kayne had that atrocity and even the judges gave him a pass because of previous work.

Alison was booted because she was too quiet whereas Vincent is about ready to have a heart attack.

you have to be really good each challenge.

she failed big time.
kayne's dress was still much better than allison's -- vincents dress was better than allison's -- EVERYBODYS dress was better than allison's.

when a failure is as big as allisons was they usually toss 'em -- i don't find the supposed prejudice everyone else seems to see -- michael and his crew have almost always done the right thing as far as i can see.

i do find a lot of not very educated guesses about both fashion and tailoring.

this is one reality show where the contestant rises and falls on some very concrete stuff -- even with all of the excited editing that goes on for tv.

Check the closing credits - they mention that it's not just the judges who decides who stays or who goes.

Consider this - everytime it's a Wacky designer vs. someone who is a bit more on the quiet side, everytime it's the quiet one booted. That's how Angela, Jeffrey, Vincent have all had their buts saved because they were kookier than the one being booted

Personally I think he's going to the final. But I've watched all 3 seasons and it's a trend - when it's down to outing either a quiet one or a kooky one, the kook always makes it through. I mean how else can you explain how Wendy Pepper and Santino made it to the final 3 even though those 2 were constantly in the bottom 2

season -- and wendy and santino made it to the top also -- wendy for the banana republic competition -- and still one of the best outfits ever on the show -- and santino won early on big time.

they argued with santino for pushing the envelope -- but not for things like not finishing.

but they never thought or intimated that santino wasn't really, really good.

i hated santino -- but the guy has/had an incredible fashion eye and inventiveness.

I think Michael is head and shoulders above the rest of the designers, talent-wise. And the judges seem to love him. He won that challenge last night. Jeffry's dress looked great for newspaper, but if it had been made of more traditional material? Feh. Michael's dress looked like it had been made out of elegant fabrics.

I think Kayne or Vincent should have been sent home. I think Allison was a victim of producer's pick, and that atrocious bow hairdo didn't help.

69. Kayne deserved to stay for the same reason Alison should have been kept
THey have both consistantly put out quality product week after week. The only time Kayne was in the bottom 3 was when he was on Robert's team putting together Robert's design. It should have been Vincent.

Mind you, I don't think Alison has top 3 potential. I think she should have made it to top 5, perhaps top 6.

Right now the designers to beat are Uli, Laura and Michael - these three put out consistant great product each week, but my prediction is that only 2 of them will make it and one of the kooks - Angela, Vincent or Jeffery will squeak into the 3rd position. Kayne is too one-style of design with the Pagentry look and the Barbie Designer guy has got to step up his game if he's going to make it.

71. Kayne has definitely been better than Vincent, overall
The judges probably can't help having favorites and being at least somewhat biased there. While I'd definitely put Vincent's below Kayne's, I could see an argument for Kayne's being the worst, which is why I included him. His dress was hideous. I think he would have been better off with the first skirt, as awful as it was. I would have been fine with either of them going home. Sometimes the talented ones bomb badly and go home before less talented designers. The bottom two should have been Kayne and Vincent. But, since they whittled it down to Vincent and Allison, it definitely should have been Vincent. Like you, I knew it was going to be Allison. I would have bet money on it.

Vincent should have been gone LONG ago -- I can't think of a single outfit he did that was steller in any way -- he has been consistantly bad. But he makes for "good" TV. :eyes:

Kayne's dress was a fucking MESS last night -- I honestly think his was the worst, even worse that Vincent's -- but he has shown great skill in his other challenges. The judges clearly took that into account when judging -- to bad they didn't do the same for the gal who was thrown off last night.

76. Kayne's dress was a mess, BUT...
it was very well made. The judges acknowledged that even though they though he effed up big time on the selection of materials and colors, the boy knows how to sow.

I also think that's where Allison lost points. She was taping up her model during fitting, rather than tailoring the garments to fit well in the first place. She knew ahead of time that the fit was going to be an issue, and Tim even brought it up to her. She spent way too long cutting and gluing strips of colored paper for a skirt which she ended up abandoning.

I think the personality aspect only came into play because Allison didn't have the courage to defend her work. I was really hoping she would say something rather than just stand there and nod her head in agreement with the judges.

44. Sure you do. Robert got to stay 2 or 3 weeks ago because of his potential
AND his ability but MOSTLY because of his body of work to that point. They booted either the sports apparel designer (I liked her) or the plain Jane looking rocker type chick (names?)

At this point in this competition they have to weigh in other things that a designer has put up. If Michael totally screwd up one time would it really be okay for him to leave but Vincent or (crazy hippy flower girl who lucked out and won the window display competition) to go on instead? Is there really any comparing them to Michale or Uli at this point?

48. It's so obviously, it's like I can pick who will be eliminated each week
It's like that until they're down to the final 5 designers and then it's all up for grabs

54. Reality shows follow certain trends
almost all of the elimination ones anyway. If someone is highlighted and gets more air than anyone else they are either going to get booted or win the next competition. The story is the story and the winner and the loser make up most of the story.

Sometimes they will throw you for a loop (usually a sure sign that someone is going away in the next episode or so) but this is what they call a "Tell" in poker.

56. I figured Michael was either going to win or be booted last week
I mean here's a guy they barely showcase (although I've loved all of his work) and suddenly he's getting TV time last week. I figured he was going to win it all or really suck.

I loved his outfit!!

50. robert's outfits -- while dull -- have always, always shown superior
tailoring.

their not rockin robert just because of body of work -- he brings very, very good technical skills each time -- and a very finished product.

and may i say -- underpants -- i can't believe you WATCH this show -- that's delightful in itself!

53. You and me both

My wife and I spend lots of time in front of the TV with the baby...er we are in the rec room/den with the baby while she plays and we have the TV on....oh hell we watch a lot of TV.

Before we switched to TiVo and my wife was on bedrest (sort of) I would mention a show to her and by the time I got home that afternoon she had watched a whole season of it on onDemand

These included
The Gilmore Girls - our daughter will wake up from a deep sleep when the theme song starts
Six Feet Under-I've never seen a single one
Entourage

In addition we ran across the second season of Runway one lazy Saturday afternoon in the winter. As you know Bravo becomes the Runway network on Wednesday and most of Saturday. SHE started watching it and I was in the room....well now I watch too. I really should use the time to read but hell Heidi Klum makes it worth the time.

60. This show was a fucking TRAVESTY.

How the hell is Vincent still on this show? I don't care if he did cash out his 401k and is a nice guy, he has NO TASTE.

Alison clearly had talent and this was her first mistake. And it wasn't even the worst dress! I'm glad Laura told Vincent off, too.

Honestly, has there ever been a worse decision than this? I don't think so.

61. It was the absolutely worst decision last night
I mean Vincent made a cardboard tube with confetti on it. I COULD FRICKING MAKE THAT. And being that I have talent with sewing, if I could make it then it's probably CRAP.

Two years from now Alison will be a young hip designer for Young adults and Vincent will be wondering why the hell he cashed in his 401k

the cardboard tube would have only been decorated on one side!

73. Vincent and reality tv
Aww, I like Vincent but he's the worst designer of the ones left. I can't see him lasting much beyond next week -- if that.

As to what his future holds, I can so see him on "The Surreal Life".

70. Laura makes me wanna scream!!
She is "bad mommy" (thanks Keith, you cheater-head). She's scary :scared:. Seriously, her stuff, while well constructed and elegant, is BORING!.

Jeffrey's dress was awesome, I think the only reason he didn't win is because of his attitude. He'll need to stop being Baron von Dickhorn if he wants to makeit to the top 3.

Vincent is a hot mess. I haven't liked a single thing he's done.

Kayne, while last night was awful, has made some stunning dresses. I even watched the Miss Universe pageant to see his dress (and it looked stunning, BTW).

I've been underwhelmed by Alison's designs, but I don't think she deserved to be booted off.

I really like Michael and would like to see him in the top 3.

74. I was so disappointed that they didn't boot Vincent; he bugs me.
I assume 'Bony Chest' is Laura *lol* I like her stuff, actually...I thought her Katharine Hepburn update was spot-on.
I think they kept Vincent (even though he's been in the bottom point-getting category almost every time) just BECAUSE he's a weirdo, unlike the blonde gal they booted...she doesn't hate anyone, so she's not as interesting :sarcasm:

78. If anything the blonde gal (Alison) was adored by everyone
I mean even Jeffery liked her. By removing her it stirred up the pot and we got that classic line "Go shove Harry Winstons up your nose" from Vincent.
