I've never actually seen it, but it's supposed to be the best of the early 60s British Invasion flicks. :o

6. "Velvet Goldmine"
It's sort of like a British Almost Famous-a gorgeous remembrance of a very specific cultural moment-but with a much less cozily nostalgic tone.

8. "The Commitments"!!!!
Not really "rock"...but a great movie about music, starting a band, and trying to keep it together.

This movie has some of the funniest dialogue that I have ever heard. Not only that, but the music and the performances are great.

Do yourself a favor and watch this movie.

30. I own RNRHS on DVD
My favorite non-Ramone character is Mr. McGree (the late great Paul Bartel).

At one point Marky called him Mr. McGloob :)
Also wonderful was Mary Woronov as Principal Togar (Oh Evelyn . . . )
My favorite song is Do You Wanna Dance (Cheerleaders and Drill team)

What ever happened to Vince Van Patten?

44. Good for Vince!
I guess its better than complaining about it raining cats and dogs in Idaho (did that line EVER work?)
I remember seeing PJ Soles in the Devils Rejects :-) I can never get tired of her.

Factoid: I sat across the aisle from Paul Bartel at a screening of Army of Darkness at the Writers Guild in L.A. Andy Garcia sat in front of me. I liked Paul much better as an actor.

really good music, fun story, funny and poignant, and interesting in a more symbolic/philosophic sense (although it took a couple of viewings to see it that way)

32. "Priviledge"...a 1967 British film about the rise and...
...fall of a working class rocker who's personality disintegrates with success and its many corporate/ideological manipulations...a very sobering and disturbing flick. I rather doubt the music would hold up over the nearly 40 years since it was released, but the narrative is as compelling as ever...if anyone knows where to get a video or DVD of it, let me know.

39. Maybe no young person truly know what "The Last Waltz" is about!
This is by far my favorite music movie--I can't think of any other that comes close. Of course I'm a huge The Band, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, etc. fan so go figure, but you're watching a CLASSIC! Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
