Just had a patient tell me: "Those Iraqis are SO ungrateful!"

I was drawing this lady's blood this morning. She noticed my short hair and military way of doing things and asked me if I'd been a medic in the Army. I told her no, I'd been a tank crewman in the Gulf. If I were to go into the service today, though, I'd definitely be a medic.

She said: "It's such a bad situation over there. Those Iraqis are so ungrateful!"

She didn't get any further than that. Very calmly and politely, I gave her a reality-check. We go over there, bomb their country, kill their people, and rape and torture the survivors, and they're supposed to be grateful???

Although I have no doubt she was just parroting right-wing bullshit she heard somewhere, I think I actually got through to her. She seemed very sweet and nice; just not very bright. I gave her the low-down and that seemed to change her mind.

Still, people like that just PISS ME OFF!
