Request for good vibes and good ju ju....
Hi friends,

Tomorrow morning I am having my upper wisdom teeth pulled and I am asking for prayers of Light, Healing and Protection. I'm a bit nervous about it, since I've only ever heard horror stories about wisdom teeth extraction. I hope to be one of the rare positive stories! Please send good thoughts the surgery goes smoothly and the recovery is easy. Thanks very much! :7
xo,
Shine
:hi:

1. Good thoughts headed your way!
If it's any consolation, for me, the uppers came out just fine. It was the lowers that were growing in sideways and broke off during the extraction. But I was in a twilight sleep, and heard the dentist go "oops", and just laughed. :)

3. No worries.
Good vibes coming your way. :hug:

Was no problem for me ... but I might add that I recently replaced my amalgam fillings and refused to have any kind of anesthesia. Didn't hurt. :)

I got all my wisdom teeth pulled in 1995. I was put to sleep. I dont remember a thing until the nurse was waking me up. Wasnt too sore and I ate soft foods for a few days.

Went the FL on a road trip the next week.

Hope it goes as smoothly for you.

8. Good vibes...
and another 'good' story. I had all 4 out in the dark ages. It wasn't bad -and the drugs in those days weren't as good as what they use now. My daughter had a bone transplant in the upper part of her mouth 9 days ago -and she only took the vicodin for 24 hrs., the swelling is almost completely gone - and we went out last night for sake 'n sushi.

I wish smooth sailing for you too!

9. No horror story to repeat...
I had mine done years ago. I had two that were growing out and sidways into my cheeks and two that were completely impacted -- they were laying down along my jawline and shoving my teeth forward. Not pretty.

I have little pain, very little swelling, no bleeding, no dry socket -- I had them done on Friday and was eating a big ol' burger by Sunday.

I hoping you have my experience. :)

10. Hi Shine
Another experience here of an easy as pie extraction of an upper wisdom tooth -- it popped out like a cube from an ice cube tray. May your extractions go as smoothly.

11. My not-horrible-at-all story:
I was awake when I got all four out. Novocaine only.
It took 45 minutes.
Some bruising and aching.
I didn't bother with the prescription painkillers. (Some pain is more tolerable to me than the nausea and disorientation of opiates.)
I took a few days off of work (retail), but by that evening, I was bored out of my skull and wanting to go back.
No infection, no dry socket, no nothing. (If you smoke, try not to. And don't use a straw.)

Good luck!

12. Good vibes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two things to remember:
1. Follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter.
2. Don't rinse too vigorously or you'll get dry socket...you don't want dry socket, trust me.
18. You've got it, Shine
All the positive thoughts and energy I've got are headed your way.
And, if it's any consolation, I had all four of mine extracted at once and I'd arranged to do it right before my days off because of all the horror stories I'd heard.
I could've gone back to work the next day. Compared to everything I'd heard....the stories were all much worse than the reality.
Be sure to have mashed potatoes, mac 'n' cheese, chocolate eclairs and the like on hand (just threw the eclairs in there because they ARE soft..and are very YUMMY!).
Have soft ice packs on hand, too.
Let us know how it all goes. Will be holding you in my thoughts, and wishing for a quick and easy recuperation for you! :hug:
I had all four taken out at the same time. It was a "rare" positive story. Harleydad had two taken out at once ... another positive story. You'll do fine. :hug:
23. Good luck.
I hope your experience is better than mine. Though I think the top teeth are generally less troublesome than the bottoms.
In any case, I hope you're out and about soon. :hi:
