Residents wonder if dead animal is legendary mystery beast
TURNER, Maine --Residents are wondering if an animal found dead over the weekend may be the mysterious creature that has mauled dogs, frightened residents and been the subject of local legend for half a generation.

The animal was found near power lines along Route 4 on Saturday, apparently struck by a car while chasing a cat. The carcass was photographed and inspected by several people who live in the area, but nobody is sure exactly what it is.

10. He is inmortal, unviolent,
fiercely lazy, hammy, wry, nappish, and hypersonic.
So, no.

4. Must be related to the wallaby/jackrabbit/deer/coyote I saw a couple
years ago. That was fucking freaky. I'm glad I was in the car with a friend, so at least one other person out there has witnessed that creature. Neither of us were on any sort of hallucinogen. We had a couple drinks earlier but we were definitely sober when we saw it.

7. El Chupacabra!
In...er...Maine.

Seriously--just goes to show that there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio etc. etc. etc. Nice that we humans don't know everything about our world just yet.

8. These mystery beasts usually turn out to be mangy canids
Chasing cats and fighting domesticated dogs would be fairly normal behavior for a sick feral dog.

11. Or outright hoaxes.
It just seems kinda ODD that all these folks think
this is a new, undiscovered species of large mammal...
yet they let it rot by the side of the road?
That don't make NO goddamn sense.

And that photo seems to be about as UNHELPFUL
as could be. Someone who actually thought this was
a new species might have printed a full-length
pic, no?

I'm guessing that's just a short-snouted mutt dog
that had it's ears clipped by an idiot as a pup.
