so I'm taking the kid to Steeler training camp today
(if you knew me, you would see that hell has frozen over as I would typically be the last person to be anywhere near a football training camp!)

However, the kid is obsessed with football, and I figured it might be a fun way to spend the afternoon....

3. He would love to go to a Lions Camp. But yes, Green Bay is my
team. Your son sounds very much like my son. :)

4. it was really cool!
we were able to see the field well and my son( who has managed to acquire voluminous football knowledge in less than a year) explained all the practice activities to me. I was joking that he could combine his love of photography and football into an interesting career! It was especially neat to watch Big Ben and the two guys who are trying out for 3rd string quarterback, go through their paces.

but wow, those line-backer guys are massive! :O

8. there was a brief debate about whether he could stay home
and play yet another game on gamecube. :eyes:

But as I always say, nope, the real world is out there waiting!

It was actually kind of interesting! (and I told him, right over in that field was where I first had too many beers as a college student!)

11. I'm taking my little guy on a hike tomorrow...
He's been getting up fairly late. When I told him what the plan was, he said, "I'm going to pop right out of bed tomorrow!" :D

Good for you for making him go!

12. yeah, summer is fun that way! I love sleeping in a bit, too
I really think kids need that break!

Oh no, I make him leave the house. He complains mightily, but so be it.

(sometimes when people call to do something, I'll say, "wait til I unplug the kid from the Gamecube."

6. Hey girl - that sounds great!
You did a good thing for your boy! The ex-SO talked about us taking the girls down to Latrobe, but we all looked at him like he was insane - it is too damn hot! (The ex played semi-pro ball, back in the day, and it has never left him, although he prefers the Chicago Bears to the Steelers!)

10. it was not too hot
that's why I thought today would be a great day to go. I can't imagine that place when it's hot, with all those poor guys running all over the field....

there were a ton of people there with strollers, pushing them up all those sloped paths....

9. I have taken a few for the team this summer, asth
I actually managed to find sociologically and historically relevant information at the Football Hall of Fame.

Alas we didn't get to see the really cool medieval style library at St. Vincents. or the dorm room where I ... nevermind. ;)
