Breaking: James Woods Dumps 20-Year-Old Girlfriend
Veteran actor James Woods has dumped his 20-year-old girlfriend, Ashley Madison, after the stress from the May-December relationship sent him to the emergency room. The 59-year-old star was distraught after his brother Michael died unexpectedly of a heart attack last month and was shocked by Madison's insensitivity during his funeral. Woods' friend Scott Sandler tells the New York Daily News that Madison showed up for the service dressed inappropriately "in a 3-inch miniskirt and chain-smoking." He explains, "At the funeral she was concerned about the amount of magazines she was in. Jimmy was on his knees with tears staining his shirt, and she was showing pictures of herself. Jimmy was so overcome by grief his blood pressure went through the roof early last week, and he had to go to the hospital. When he came out, it was like he had seen the light." The actor has known Madison, the pal of a golfing buddy, since she was five-years-old. Adds Sandler, "She's the anti-Christ. She truly has the soul of a moth and the brain of a dead trout."

1. Um James, what do you expect?
You go Republican on us and sell yourself out, and you're surprised the company you now keep is soulless?

You lie with dogs, don't be surprised when you wake up with fleas...

She sounds like a perfect match for him! He's known her since she was 5 and jumps on her the minute she becomes legal? How predatory is that?

14. Haha, Worse
If you google her name, the first hit is a personals site for aspiring adulterers to meet anonymously through an environment which promises to protect your identity.

Not that I'm not in favor of people being sexually open, but if you make a commitment to sleep with one person for the rest of your life, I think you should have the decency to tell that person first if monogamy no longer works for you, rather than go covertly in search of strange genitals on the internet.

12. Apparently they've been together since, like, June.
Found a snarky-but-good comment:

We imagine that once Woods's anger about Madison's behavior at the funeral subsided, he was genuinely devastated by the end of the relationship. It must be hard to come to the realization that one has wasted 14 years of grooming a friend's daughter from Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse playdate companion to suitable piece of red-carpet ass, knowing that one could've achieved the same disappointing result with any ambitious cater-waitress he promised a speaking role on Entourage.

At least at first. I think he was more concerned about her "up front" assets more than anything.

Just another case of thinking with the little head instead of the big one. Most men make that mistake at least once in their lives, hopefully James learns from it.

23. Bullshit.
Being 20 years old doesn't explain reading magazines during a funeral. My 5-year-old nephew has more sense than that.

I really, really fucking hate it when youth is used as an excuse for stupidity.

25. No one said it ~excused~ her behaviour.
I merely offer than callowness is most often ~explained~ by being 19, 20 years old.

I stand by my statements. She isn't the anti-Christ. She's a kid. She's maybe unusually callow and self-obsessed, but that's not extraordinary for someone her age.

James Woods, on the other hand, knew exactly what she was when he took up with her. Apparently he and his penis didn't care at the time.

27. Sorry, I gotta agree with huskerlaw
Reading magazines and pointing out your pictures at a funeral is extraordinary for someone of her age. Or most any age.

Especially when you're dating the brother of the deceased. Even if you're self-obsessed.

Oh, I wish. I work at a university in Southern California. I know plenty of self-obsessed 20-year-olds. Somehow I don't see many of them reading a magazine at a funeral. And if they did, I certainly wouldn't think "ah well, they're only 20..."

35. I'm not sure why you're as upset at my comments as you seem to be.
I too work at a university. I teach at one.

At the risk of repeating myself, I don't excuse her behaviour. I think it was abominable.

What I take issue with is James Woods' assertion that this somehow makes her "the anti-Christ."

I've known more than a few ambitious, self-obsessed young men and women for whom I think such kinds of behaviour wouldn't be unusual, even if it's despicable.

I don't find it completely out of the question that perhaps they often discussed such things together as press coverage and she might have been insensitive enough to not realise this situation was different. Young people in American society often have very little personal experience with death.

I was only slightly younger than she when I attended the funeral of a cousin. The departed's brother and I burst out laughing like a pair of hyenas in the middle of the solemn service. I know that there are friends and relatives to this day that felt our behaviour ghastly, and I'm not saying they're wrong.

Time and many more unfortunate experiences with death have shown me that people grieve in ways not always comprehensible to the outside observer. My cousin and I were trying to comfort ourselves in the only way our inexperienced minds knew how; by seeking some normalcy, some amount of the squealing, giggling, pinching and poking shennanigans we typically got up to. Much as it likely disconcerted my Aunt, it really wasn't unusual. We hadn't the depth, the experience or the compassion to take our pain outside of ourselves at our tender young age.

Regardless of what went on in her mind, I find Woods' expectation and subsequent verbal smackdown odious.

38. when I was 20 years old I had to excuse myself from my great uncle's
funeral ...I was consoling his sister...(who was in her 80's)...and I was feeling really bad...and then she starts saying...."look at him...he's dead...he's dead"...and she kept doing it...and I just about lost it...I was thinking..."yeah he is dead...that is why we are here"...and I started to snort (from laughing)...and I had to excuse myself to the bathroom so I didn't look bad...

My snorting was misconstrued to be my absolute shock and grief...and no one caught on....

Only later when I was with my siblings...one who was in her 30's did we talk about it and they got a laugh out of it too...

47. You said...
"And she's exactly what young people her age all over the world are. Naive, self-obsessed and shallow.*"

I'm "upset" because you called everyone (with few exceptions) of her age group "naive, self-obsessed and shallow". Your cute little astericks doesn't save the statement. It was a ridiculous overgeneralization, not supported by anything I've seen in reality.

I also teach at a university, in a part of the country that's supposed to be the most self-obsessed and shallow that the US has to offer (though I would beg to differ), and I think your statement was bullshit. Yes, some 20-year-olds are shallow and self-obsessed, but the vast majority of them still will be when they're 40. For the most part, that's not a function of age.

As for whether or not you used her age as an excuse...what is "she's not the anti-Christ, she's a kid" if not a rationalization for her behavior?

How about a condemnation of the use of hyperbole in common conversation? She's not the anti-Christ. She's not Hitler or a Nazi. She's not the incarnation of all that is Evil or wrong in the world. She's a very young callow person in a world filled with very young callow people, and she behaved badly. - Though, I feel that's possibly a factor of her age and experience with death.

I don't know whether you've woken up on the wrong side of the bed or something, but I'm through with this thread. I have always in the past had some great respect for your writings and opinion husker, but you seem to me to be intentionally distorting and misunderstanding my thoughts here to suit some personal grievance agenda.

Maybe we'll have more of an affinity again tomorrow, or with regard to different subject matter.

Peace.

29. It is extraordinary
for someone of ANY age. Nobody with any common decency reads a magazine at a funeral. A 20-year-old is more than capable of conducting themselves as normal adults would in such situations. To say otherwise is insulting to people in their 20s.

43. I have seen people do the following at funerals
make idle chit chat about anything other than the deceased, knitting, reading, and of course the folks who bring babies become the highlight because it is a relief to see an example of life renewing itself when you are there to mark the end of another life.

The funeral I referenced in this thread (my g-uncle's)..i attended with a boyfriend from college who drove me to the funeral...otherwise I would not have attended...he read the bible in the corner to keep himself occupied...and then my other uncle comes over to him and tells him he has "more interesting stuff" in the trunk of his car...alluding to his porn collection...that uncle was a high ranking officer in the US Army...
