Damn, damn, damn. Another waste of time interview.
They were looking for someone with a little more "energy," write that as "YOUNGER."

Guess us "old guys" (over 50) are only good for the night manager job at "Denny's."

I SO MUCH want to find some 25 year old fresh college grad and kick him right square in the nuts.

3. We have a "BUSHTARD" in this 6 sigma class.
It has been a true test of my patience and self control.

Every time someone mentions the economy..."Economy is GREAT! Thanks to BUSH! If you don't believe it, you're reading the 'Liberal press'!"

I swear to God, people like this are proof positive that CCW is a lousy idea.

4. Bad interviews suck
I'm returning to the workforce myself, so I feel you.

As a 26 year-old fairly-recent college graduate, I kept getting they were looking for someone with "a stronger base of intuition in the field" meaning "older", so the ballgame ain't so rosy from this side of the field either. Nevermind that I may be the first 26 year old with even an outside chance at CFRE certification and have been working and volunteering in development fundraising longer than most of my 40-year-old interviewers.

I actually just got a new job as a shift supervisor at Starbucks so the Denny's thing kinda stings, man.

5. Sad thing is...I thought the interview went GREAT.
What's with the 30-40 year olds? If you're YOUNGER or OLDER, "Thanks and haveaniceday."

I NEVER acted that way when I was in that demographic.

I feel your pain, but think how it feels to do all this time in Quality and pay all these dues, THEN end up as a shift supervisor at ______.

You got nowhere to go but up. I'm on a one way elevator to Hell, going down.

12. As in: "You have an enormous skill set, but we're concerned about..."
"...your flexibility."

As in "You're just too old to learn anything NEW you aged motherfucker."

23. I picture they can push us "oldies" around much more easily.
The "kids" think another, better job is just around the corner.

Out of work spouses, sick children and mortgages tend to make one more pliable.

I am also job searching. I went on what I thought was a good interview a few weeks ago. Went so well they called me back for a second one. The supervisor doing the interview told me all about the great benefit package and told me what a great interview I had. I didn't get the job...:(

It's very frustrating..

13. If it's any consolation
My husband knows a lot of guys who were pushed into early retirement by their employers who are now being paid big bucks as consultants by those same employers. It seems all the bean counters had the same great idea at the same time - fire the engineers and hire a consultant as needed. Guess what? If no one hires engineers and allows them to gain experience, there aren't many experienced engineers to hire. We're wondering what happens ten years down the road when all the consultants really do retire.

14. I would LOVE early retiremnent.
No offense to those guys, but SIGN ME UP.

I turn 54 On "George W. Bush Day" (December 12th) and after working full time since age 18 through college and kids, I'm thoroughly SICK of the whole thing.

Maybe I'll assemble bicycles and barbeque grills. Do the "Rent a Hubby" bit as a handyman.

19. Sorry that happened to you.
BTDT.

I really hate it when they call you in for an interview and have NO intention of hiring you, usually because, IME, they've already got somebody selected for the position.

And I know ageism is rampant.

Sorry couldn't resist. That sucks man, but most of my college grad friends aren't doing much better than night manager job at Denny's. The job market just flat out sucks.

22. The "Bushtard" got to kiss ass twice more...
I couldn't get back to the board to post it. This guy posted himself as an informal "greeter" to usher these two additional "pessovante" into the seminar.

Nauseating.
