4. they don't know nothin' 'bout
Wednesdays. Apparently.

There's something about a Wednesday morning.

Well, I woke up wednesday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playing with a can that he was kicking.
Then I walked across the street
And caught the wednesday smell of someone frying chicken.
And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost
Somewhere, somehow along the way.

On a wednesday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a wednesday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And wednesday morning coming down.

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging.
And I stopped beside a wednesday school
And listened to the songs they were singing.
Then I headed down the street,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing,
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

On a wednesday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a wednesday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And wednesday morning coming down.

(apologies to the sunday people)

5. Dang, Qnr! You sure got a shitload of navigation bars on your browser!
Maybe I'm just superconservative with my verticle screen space. But three additional nav bars on a browser, along with the standard buttons row AND command bar row AND the browser tabs... sheesh.

7. Not as bad as it looks, as it is a compact theme, but I know what you mean
Believe it or not though, looking at the browsers of friends, I actually have more useable space than they do.

I also tend to use a lot of different browsers, and most of them are kept bare :)

10. Sorry...
I didn't know how it worked, so I had to investigate; because we're obviously of premium importance. :D

11. s'ok. You've probably heard me say in the past that I'm never bored.
Well, part of that is because I do strange things like (after a reasonable amount of time, say 8 months after first using something) reading documentation

12. Instructions are waaaay over-rated.
I've been trying to explain this to my mother, who wants to get a computer.

I've had her come over and use ours a couple of times, after showing her that all she has to do is type keywords into the search engine, press enter, and select from the avilable hits. She grasped the mouse as if it needed to be squeezed as hard as possible to get any results, and couldn't get the hang of directing the cursor by steering the mouse around.

The poor woman got so frustrated, and insisted that the only way she'd ever be able to learn how to use the computer would be with "step-by-step instructions placed at eye level." She used to type quite a bit, so I suspect she's primarily concerned with changes in the keyboarding technique. Technique, of course, is something I lack.

She was horrified that I suggested playing around with it a bit until she got the feel of it. Poor Mom. I'll have to buy the the Dummies book. I loved it...

13. I tend to agree, but they're sometimes pretty interesting, when you don't
have any obligation to read them

14. Definitely.
I got my youngest reading at age 3, by explaining that he'd be able to play video games better if he could read the instructions. So he reads very well now; but his favorite materials are tech manuals and an anatomy book with really cool internal pics.
