I PASSED!!!! I PASSED!!!!
I just found out tonight that I passed my certification exam. I took the last of the 3 parts about 10 days ago up near Boston, usually they wait 2-4 weeks before they post the results on the website, but my ex-roommate checked her status on a whim tonight and found out the results were already posted. She passed too! I'm so freakin happy tonight...my stomach has been in knots since I left the testing room so a giant burden has been lifted off my chest. We are going to go out on Friday to celebrate our newly acquired titles (Certified Athletic Trainers). I'm just so glad that 4 years of hard work in college finally paid off.

Now the real pain in the ass is going to begin; a 30 page application that requires a notarized copy of my high school diploma, official transcripts, a passport sized photo, a background check and various other affidavits proving I'm not a convicted felon just to get licensure from the state board of health plus another $200 fee. Oh yeah and actually finding a job. But that's for another day

Tonight I'm just so happy!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

19. I know, everything is coming up Smitty this week!
Actually it was a practical exam and I had 3 people scrutinizing my every move in that room so I left sweating as if I were involved in a dance portion!

20. I wish...that would be an awesome job to have
:) Every time I watch sports with friends and family and someone gets hurt, they all expect me to diagnose the athlete through the TV...especially if it's one of their favorite players.

As someone who's about to take the GRE, I feel your test anxiety.

24. Athletic Training
I don't plan on going to grad school until next fall so at some point in the next few months I've got to take the GRE myself, which is a whole other set of anxieties; especially since I can't count to 20 without taking off my shoes. I'm not really worried about the verbal portion of it but I haven't taken a "real" math class in nearly 5 years!

28. Me neither
But I've been practicing, and the actual math isn't so bad, it's just figuring out how to solve the problem, and also doing all the calculations quickly without a calculator.

29. yeah the no calculator thing is really going to suck
I don't think I have been actually forced to do long division without the aid of a calculator since elementary school. I think it's entirely impractical and a bit unfair for them to structure the test that way. For better or worse most people rely on a calculator to work out their math problems all through school and they even let you use it on the SAT and now all of the sudden after 16 years of doing math this way they pull the rug from out under you.

Hope you get the paperwork and the job thing taken care of quickly. Enjoy it; though I know nothing about athletic training, it sounds like the worst of it is over. :)

27. thanks...
it's a job for people who have passion about sports medicine...the hours are long and the pay is about equal to a teacher's salary. I'm actually wishing this year will pass by quickly so I can get into grad school and working on something I love to do
