Are your boys true geeks?
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 07:33 PM by Iniquitous Bunny
Mine are:

(*See end note by the way)

1. They argue over which additional scenes to watch at the end of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

2. They argue over which is their favorite Colbert episode.

3. They have been wooed by their step-dad's-to-be's love for MSTK3. This is the show their father (my ex who reads books on quantum physics for fun no less) says, "That show is even too geeky for me."

4. One makes his own dolls/people/action figures from pipe cleaners.

5. The other self taught algebra in 4th grade and wants this for his birthday (and we live in New England and he doesn't care one way or another about the Packers):

*I love geeks (i.e. smart, creative people) and I think they are awesomely wonderful humans. Just had to share.

2. When my son was 16 he brought home...
about 7 yards of wool plaid fabric and then a pike and then a year later a sword and chain mail
and slowly it dawned on me that this was going to be part of a costume.
At 18 he got himself signed up at the closest Renaissance Faire and has been a reenactor for 13 years, now.

9. It's a cheesehead crown.
He's obsessed with cheese and saying "cheese", so he wants to be "the king of cheese".

12. Ah, to be crowned the "king of cheese"....
Haven't we all had _THAT_ dream? :)

(I was just afraid that it had something to do
with those creepy-ass BK commercials. *shudder*)

17. "Freak" is a broad term for a natural oddity.
Geek is a specific kind. It is usually a drunk who is paid in gin to act as a sort of wild man. A necessary part of the show is eating live animals.

18. My STB 11-year old . . .
* Loves British humor more than American humor
* Is a mech and Lego-animation nut
* Collects various species from the Lepidopteran order, including a big honkin' Emperor Moth caterpillar yesterday
* Anime, Miyazaki, Katamari. Of course.
* Loves Invader Zim, Salad Fingers and Aphex Twin videos.
* Doubles as a contortionist, which makes assorted party guests cringe.

So yeah, he's one of those.
