Happy Independence Day, India!!!
August 15, commemorates the day in 1947, India's biggest secular celebration, on the anniversary of her independence from British in 1947.

It is celebrated all over the country with meetings & flag-hosting ceremonies.

August 15th is the day on which India gained independence after nearly 200 years of British rule

got loud and decided to take a quiet walk at 1:30 AM. I guess I'll watch it tonight while taking it easy to commemorate independence. But not until after watching Miss Teen USA!

2. An Indian friend/co-worker schooled me in history today.
He's wearing a shirt with the flag and it sparked the conversation. I am, sadly, an 'ignorant' American and didn't know that they were ever under British rule until today

Be sure to wish your Indian friends a happy one! :hi:

3. A lot of the world was under the sway of the empire.
A student once wrote: "The sun never sets on the British Empire. It must therefore be in the east, because the sun rises in the east."
