Police Officer Stole Money From Drivers During Traffic Stops

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. -- A Coconut Creek officer is accused of robbing drivers during traffic stops. Officer Michael Dunsavage was arrested Monday on a single count of grand theft.

He was placed on administrative leave at the time of the initial complaint in July. He resigned from the force earlier this month after being a Coconut Creek police officer since July 2002.

Police Chief George Raggio said in a statement that Dunsavage's actions were "unacceptable and not tolerated."

An investigation reveals that Dunsavage took wallets from the drivers and stole money.

The police would pull you over for not stopping at a red light or something else made up, then be very official about taking you to jail and court to pay the fine, all just an act. Now the tricky part was knowing your part too. You usually don't offer the money directly, nor, of course, start arguing innocence. Plead shortness of time, can't I just pay you the fine directly...eventually after a while you were separated from any available cash without any writeup.
