TYJ-DU-PSA, #239 Do not splash hot olive oil on bare skin.
After research, I have discovered that if you are blackening a Salmon fillet in hot olive oil, it is not a good idea to splash the oil over your forearm and hand.

It really hurts.

However, after three darvocets and a half a bottle of wine, the pain will subside.... (after three hours).

And to keep this in the purview of GD... Bush still sucks.

7. No, I have a really good first aid kit....
My arm is wrapped nicely and now I will have to go buy burn kit to replace what I used that will cost more than the original kit.

No shit, this stuff still is painful.

Thanks!

21. Okay - really strange remedy . . .
Preparation "H" (with the numbing element) not only helps the pain a LOT, it heals the burns really fast.

Please, please don't ask me how I know . . .

Hope you feel better soon.

I have been there, although not at the drug-requiring aftermath.

Keep it clean, and hope you are a fast healer. Get on that vitamin E and C also.

6. I thought this was one of those government-mandated...
...safety warnings they have to put on products, like the one on the Superman Halloween costume that said "Warning: Donning costume does not enable flight."

Anyway, I hope the arm heals quickly.

14. I LIKE Halbaneros...
As long as they are involved with other foods. They are one of the greatest gifts to a cook since cayenne.

15. No, man, that's taking the EASY way out
To be fair, though, I tried eating a habanero pepper once. Just bought one at the supermarket, settled myself in the parking lot, and took a big bite. As I chewed, I reflected on the earthy flavor of the pepper when oh my GOD, this is hot at which point I reached for the cheeseburger (to partially soak the oils off my tongue and cheeks) and a 32-oz cola (which is mostly psychological, I know, but it felt GREAT).

17. never ever tip the boiling pot of eggs
over to look in them when you are 6 years old, wearing a flannel shirt ...

that hurts, and the shirt rips the skin right off when you have it removed by mom who is freaking out over it.

little did i know then, little * sucked, but he did, and he does still, just bigger suckiness.

i on the other hand, healed just fine. The wonder of 'Indian Cream' as it was marketed then (Aloe in a cream base) did the job.

peace to ya TYJ!
