Little MB's dad FINALLY let me get a passport for her and we are finally going to go visit my mom at her place, instead of her usual traveling up here.

2. I'm really looking
forward to seeing it. My mom just bought her apartment there - you'd be surprised what the US dollar will buy you down in the Dominican Republic.

Plus, I will be visiting my great aunt and uncle too. They are an interesting pair...she reads tarot cards behind his back and he was active in the revolution against the Trujillo dictatorship and is always ready with a story of the fight.

4. My uncles second wife was a Dominican
before he died he owned two big houses in the DR and loved going there because he could, as he put it, "live like a king". I'm sure the stories about the revolution are fascinating, but I admit I don't know any DR history.

5. Thanks...I can't wait.
It's only been a couple of months since I saw my mom, but I haven't been to the DR since 2001 (when my grandma died).
