Man Arrested For Wearing Ninja Mask On Street

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa police said a man was arrested for wearing a ninja-style mask. Police were called to investigate a call about loud music being played on Tuesday, and a "concerned citizen" told officers that a masked man was walking down the street.

Officers found Arthur Richardson with a T-shirt around his head and face, leaving only his eyes uncovered. He was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for wearing a mask on the street. He was released later that day.

The charge is very rarely used, but a police spokesman said the law exists because of the close association between mask-wearing and troublemaking.

The only day of the year when the rule is dropped is Halloween.
