6. I didn't even need to click the link
I knew who you were talking about. They are one of my top bands. I think Pete Ham was one of the all time great songwriters and it really is tragic. I have a print of Pete hanging in my live room of my studio.

8. How about the Ramones...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ramones

Deaths:

Joey Ramone died of lymphoma on April 15, 2001 in New York.

Dee Dee Ramone was found dead at his Hollywood home on June 5, 2002 following a heroin overdose, only two months after The Ramones were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

Johnny Ramone died of prostate cancer on September 15, 2004 in Los Angeles, California.

10. The Ramones weren't fucked over and driven to despair and suicide
at the height of their popularity, like two of the members of Badfinger were.

They were constantly being screwed, even long after death. When the estates of Pete Ham and Tom Evans FINALLY got songwriting royalties for "Without You", they found out that they split them with all of the members of the band and their shithead manager.

22. But all the same, you gotta admit....
Tommy Erdelyi (Ramone) has to be the most paranoid man on Earth right now, as the last surviving original Ramone.

And Marky & CJ are probably nervous too.

11. It was like the only thing keeping the Ramones alive
was being in the Ramones. The minute the band broke up, they all started dying. Some died more slowly than the others, but almost all of them died, nonetheless.

9. One of my favorite groups of ALL time
Never, EVER given enough credit, in my opinion. Pete Ham was a brilliant and prolific songwriter.

It's an absolute tragedy, what happened to them.

14. What about "Spinal Tap"
Jeez, they lost a drummer to a gardening accident and another to spontaneous human combustion. Don't forget getting second billing to the puppet show. :)

Derek Smalls: Isn't there a law against this sort of thing? Surely you can't just buy a full page ad in the music papers and publish your divorce demands.

Derek Smalls: What do you mean 'I paid for it'?

Derek Smalls: Joint account! Fuck! Can't we just have her killed? You know people.

Country and western music is truly tragic in that I want to kill myself every time I hear it.

29. I think that Allen Collins is the most tragic figure in rockandroll...
he survived the plane crash, failed at a coke-crazed suicide pact car crash which did kill his girlfriend, left paralyzed and unable to play for years, and eventually died from complications.

I just get incredibly sad when I watch footage of him during the heyday. He just always had such a joyous expression and body language when he was playing. Like the happiest kid in the world. RIP.

30. Maybe not the most tragic figure from Skynyrd was Artimus Pyle
Dude survives a plane crash with a bunch of broken ribs, drags himself a mile to a farmhouse covered in blood and mud to get help and gets shot by the owner who mistakes him for a member of the Manson family. Rough day...

he said when Ronnie approached him to play in the band, he (Allen) took off running, convinced Ronnie was going to beat him up :)
