And I believe in the supernatural...BUT:

If there are "angels" around, why do they have wings? I mean, like they're half-bird, half-human. If they're messengers of God, or something similar, can't they just fly around with or without wings attached? Do the wings work in space as well as on Earth? It just makes no sense.

1. Angels are METAPHORICAL beings.

They aren't even "BEINGS" as we understand the word; it
would be more accurate to call them "anthropomorphic personifications",
(with props to Pratchett).

They have wings because we EXPECT them to. Except when they don't.

2. IIRC, wings aren't even mentioned in the Bible

It was after the image was popularized by sculptors and painters (who tended to depict supernatural beings that way) that the idea caught fire.

Kind of like halos.

And Jesus as a skinny white dude.
