I need a DU lounge hug-fest

I just spent most of the day in GD discussing airline security restrictions (which I am all for) and almost every attempt I made to discuss the issue rationally was met with name calling and assaults on my person for wanting nothing more than the protection of our air travelers.

I'm not saying I am more right than anyone I had this discussion with, only that I am feeling a little bit beat up by those who refuse to discuss anything without verbally (textually?) abusing their opponents.
