3. I had to convince Mr. Gray to watch. Took a week.
He loved it. It is SO worth the effort. I admit, I was nervous. Last movie I recommended to him was Coneheads. He still trashes me over that.

V is very emotional. SEE IT Now, then come here and post that you saw it.

5. I got this movie
the day it came out on dvd, very very good...no, hell with that, it was great! I was really taken aback about how deep the movie was. I knew that the Wachoswki brothers were doing the movie, and I was expecting some action packed, vaguely indepth movie, but I was waaay wrong. Very good...

V....

6. as i was mentioning the other day, my son used to have & read...
the comics, but the film adaptation was spot on; appreciated very much the craft of it/the filmmaking, and the updates, performances, total package

7. It was hardly a spot-on adaptation.
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 07:51 AM by Benfea
The Wachowskis made numerous and significant changes, some to adapt the story to a new medium, some to alter the criticism from the Thatcher administration to the Bush administration, but changes there were.

The changes were enough that Alan Moore (writer of the comic book) took his name off the project, but as other comic book fans pointed out, Alan Moore hates everything. That's just how he is. ;) The original artist embraced the movie whole-heartedly but admitted that there were a lot of changes.

That's not to say that the movie wasn't very good. It was excellent. However, I don't feel you can call it an accurate nor faithful adaptation.

8. not my point; referring here to a 'film adaptation'...
the filmic, cinematic treatment of subject matter, sets, lighting & such; were the film to have been as bloody, as gratuitous, and violently manic as the 'comic book', many people at DU may not be praising it for the piece they see before them today in the form of little product recognition avatars/odes to a madman ;-)

9. It was very good....
...but saying the adaptation was spot-on implies things that don't apply. That's all I'm saying.

12. I watched half of it last night.
I had to give up when an asthma attack rendered me incapable of sitting on the couch any longer.

I will try to watch the end today. I enjoyed what I did see, though.

13. The repeated reference of the letter V and the number 5 was awesome
Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.

29. Did you see the Anti Bush protest poster?
It was in the scene where Valerie was discussing her tribulations, and they went to a large protest. The whole poster wasn't shown, but I think it was "Bush, you're a fucking liar". All that was visable was "Bush, you're a fucking ..."
