The Lounge is like college: after a while, you just don't know anyone.
I recognize names, of course, but so many of the people I used to chat it up with never show up anymore:
ET Awful? Not in months
BlondieK143? Who knows...culinary school?
GreatAuntofTriplets? Once in a while I've seen her, but not much.
Bouncy Ball? I hope that stalker didn't get her.
Mr. Scorpio? That bar hasn't been open in a while.
And many others...

Do any of you notice that people seem to vanish--no GBCW, nothin'--until you feel like you've vanished yourself?

Sorry for the Debbie Downer rant. Too much vicadin.

4. I just never see them much.
I've been busy, too, and it's not like I put out much effort to keep in contact. That's always been a problem for me: I let people fade out. I'm a bit of a flake like that.

2. Hand over the vicodin, Debbie Downer.
Some of the folks you mentioned just developed different posting habits, I think.

6. Crap. I'm now on something heavier than Vicodin.
Doctors orders. It's the generic for Oxycontin, I think. One or two small pills as needed. I shouldn't be sitting here but I miss you guys.

Sounds painful, kiddo. :(

11. Yeah, I read that earlier.
How did you screw up your back that badly? Will you need surgery?

27. I hope I won't need surgery. Nothing definitive yet. I am feeling a
bit better today (Sunday).

I had a bad cold and terrible cough. That started the back pain -- and then I picked up a computer in its box and moved it from my garage floor to the car seat. Stupid...

Thanks for your inquiry, i.cat.

15. Hi Radio Lady!

We miss you, too.

I sure hope you feel better and remember,
" take them ONLY as prescribed".
Seriously, Oxycontin, even generic, can kick your butt.

Take good care of yourself!

28. Only took two tabs today to control the pain. I'm not going to stay on
the stuff one minute longer than necessary.

Thanks for your suggestions last night. I used the heating pad on and off, and got quite comfy -- watched the Comedy Central channel with Larry the Cable Guy in concert with Jeff Foxworthy and crew. They were really funny!

Again, I appreciate the time you took to respond -- all of you!

3. I disappeared almost for six months, came back, and all new people
are here. Of course, nobody missed me, because I don't post that much.

It's cool though, because there's only so many times you can share the same inside joke. The new people in the lounge keep it fresh.

And you're right. I just feel a bit lost these days.

10. As one of the newer people in the lounge,
Thank You!!

We feel somewhat invisible at times, many people have posted that.

If fact, that's something a lot of people feel, here.

ThomCat started a get acquainted thread here last week.

We should have them more often.

:hi:

9. If so, I'm in my fourth year and only have half my credits.
I'm the guy that slips in late to the lecture and sits in back. Every now and then I'll participate in class, but mostly I just read the student paper and do the crossword.

18. Oh, I am here....
I have never started many threads. And when I do, they sink to the bottom. I mostly respond. And lately, I have been :scared: to say too much.

And since I have relocated to the near western burbs, I am not even in the old neighborhood...and I miss it. Visited today. Had lunch at Moody's pub. The old street is beautiful with its arc of trees. :(

I have seen ET Awful and Mr. Scorpio around. But not Blondie or Bouncy.

How is the beautiful baby???

20. IconBaby is almost walking!
Can you believe it? She can stand solo already, at 11 months! And her first word was "kitty," which she says anytime an image of a cat is anywhere around.

So, did you move to Oak Park? Lots of people going that way.

22. She is getting big! I bet she is fun to watch.
I am in Forest Park, just west of Oak Park.

Was back in the old neighborhood yesterday and drove down my street. I didn't cry this time, but got a big lump in my throat.

19. Yeah that feeling is is quite normal.
But that happens in any large group of people. And it's harder if you're not that outgoing and not able to ingratiate yourself into any social circle to speak of. So yeah it's like a lot like college. You have to find your own way through. Just give me the Cliff Notes to study for the test and point the way to the drunken coed parties. ;-)
