Radio_Lady here for just a few minutes. Taking some heavy drugs
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 10:16 PM by Radio_Lady
for back pain. Sitting at my desk still hurts. Doctor told me to do conservative treatment with cortocosteroids for eight days. I coughed so much with my cold that my back went into spasm, and I may also have a herniated disk. Oh, and then I lifted a heavy computer (dumb and dumber...).

Any home remedies you've used would be helpful -- just minor suggestions for at home care. Not looking for real medical advice, just support.

thanks everybody.

god love ya,

Radio_Lady

Ptah, thanks for remembering me on this thread.

3. Oh, Radio Lady, I'm so sorry you're going
through this crap!

I've been in traction twice, had chymopapain injections in the L4 and L5,
PT coming out of my ears, and lost a dream job to my back acting up
the first day of work!!

So, I suggest;

Take your meds as prescribed.

Heat pads really helped me, more than ice.
Just make sure you don't stay on them longer than 15-20 mins.

Move around, when you can. Every little bit helps get your flexibility
back.

If it hurts- don't do it! Listen to your back.

Sleep with enough pillows around you and under your knees
when you're on your back.

I hope you feel much better, soon.
Coughing and sneezing can be a killer, I know.

Keep in touch when you can.
Typing on a computer is very difficult, especially when you're in pain.

5. Thanks folks. I've seen the messages above. I'm going to ease into
bed and hope for a better tomorrow.

Hugs (if only I could) from Radio_Lady...........

Doctor said to continue with plan for eight day trip to Seattle and Canada. I guess the drugs will keep me more or less comfortable. We're driving, but hubby said he would do most of the driving and we'll stop to rest whenever I want.

Wish me luck.

12. KC2, that's interesting. I looked up the ingredients on this product.
I'm already using something called ARCTIC SPRAY from California. I've been using it for years.

11. Sunday hello from Radio Lady... feeling a bit better today.
But can't sit in front of the computer to chat -- sorry.

All packed for tomorrow to go to Seattle and Canada.

Hubby will have to drive most of the way.

The doctor said walking, standing, resting and limited sitting are OK.

I'll set up some physical therapy for the week we get home.

I'm more hopeful today, thank goodness.

Good night and good luck.
