I have two Hard Drives C: 60gb & D: 80gb XP Pro is on C: -- Can I
put another copy of XP on one of the drives (if so, which one?)

I have so much stuff on my XP C drive I hate to have to format and I'm not sure how to backup - and if I backed wouldn't I be backing up all the same problems that XP has now (I can't open Outlook mail, error sign pops up, and XP won't accept Adobe so I can't pdf files).

But everything else works fine, so I was thinking of keeping XP with all my files and having a clean copy of XP (on one of the HD's).

What do you think? Thanks!

1. Yeah:

1. First do the "Documents and Settings" transfer wizard, and save what you feel like you need to save.

2. Just install windows on your D drive. To do this, just put in the disk while running XP, and install on the D drive.

3. At this point you'll have a dual boot machine. You can then go into the old one and uninstall it to save space.

That's what I was thinking of doing, but when I tried - Windows message said it was "dangerous" to put another copy of XP on the same computer.

But I think I'm going to put it in D drive...One last question, will I have to reboot each time I want to switch...I would think I'd have to?

3. If you leave both on there, yes.

But why not just uninstall one to save space?

When I put in the new XP on D: just move everything from C: over and then delete XP on C:?

What's the best way to delete C: and NOT have bits & pieces of old XP flying around on C:

5. Hold on....I'm not suggesting deleting a hard drive

If you just uninstall windows, it will take off the XP installation (usually the Windows directory). All of the rest of the stuff on the C drive will still be on there.

This explains uninstalling XP pretty well:
