Whats more annoying on a Saturday morning. A leaf blower or a woodchipper?
8 AM this morning, right outside my bedroom window was a dude with a LOUD leafblower. He maintained that noise for over an hour. But that wasn he worst of it. Right across the street they are taking down an old palm tree and a damn woodchipper was blaring away the whole time the leafblower dude was going at it.
So much for sleeping in on my day off.

6. My condo is being painted
All the windows and sliders covered in plastic wrap - like a giant condom or one of those bags you cook a turkey in. The paint sprayers sound a little like leaf blowers but with a rumble. I guess the guy with the ladder at my window didn't realize I was in bed trying to sleep. Oh, and that yummy paint smell, it just clings to the damp air - by noon it was perfect for basting. You can almost see it running down the walls now. Man - I got it good. I know, you're probably jealous. But then, I don't have a woodchipper.

(I do feel your pain. )

8. My place is being painted too...
The landlady is a cheapskate. Instead of hiring professional painters who could do the job in less than a week she hired one of her other tenants.

This guy has another full time job and shows up to paint "whenever he feels like it". "Whenever he feels like it" is usually after 7:00 pm. Often he shows up at 8:45 pm.

When he first started the job he showed up with the power washer at 9:15 pm. I get up early for work so I was already asleep and this jerk is outside blasting away on the outside of my place.

He doesn't have any sort of regular schedule but usually he'll make it over once a week. Sometimes he'll miss a week. He never works more than 90 minutes before he cleans up and leaves.

And the best part: He can't work without his boom box blasting "K-Tell's best of the 70s" disco music. Macho, macho man. Shake your booty. Do a little dance, make a little love. All at high volume.

I've tried talking to him. I've even pulled the plug. He'll act surprised, apologize profusely...but the next time he shows up it's back to square one.

Exasperating!

13. Shake Your Booty!!
 I'm not laughing with you. I'm laughing at you.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I didn't mean that at all. If I weren't my own landlady I would think yours was mine. These guys have been painting my building (not the other 24) for two weeks now and they work from like 7 am until 5 every day.

They were hired by the homeowners association, however. And around here these types of jobs always go to the highest bidder not the lowest who, coincidentally, usually always turn out to be good friends with or related to someone on the board of directors. Funny thing, that. So we, the homeowners, pay 30 - 50% above the going rate just to get crappy labor. Somebody's gotta pay those hard working board members.

My real complaint is that I get migraines - from the heat, the noise and the fumes. This past week I had a pounder going with the painters spraying. The future ex came by and reveled in seeing me caged inside my giant condom puking my brains out - bastard.

9. Chainsaw.
I've got a guy clearing a lot near me, and he must have only Saturday morning off from work to do this. You'd think if he works so much, he'd be able to hire some real fallers to do this during the work week.

at about 7:00 AM Saturday, endearing himself not to the neighbors. I just learned to sleep through it or get up. :)

14. Got both of ya beat.
Our next door neighbor has a riding lawnmower that sounds like a Harley with a cutout muffler...only louder because it's right next door. Even worse, cutting the grass over there seems to be a two-day ordeal. Somebody needs to offer to fix the damn thing, seriously. We're tired of turning up the TV so we can hear it over that damn thing.

16. Funny how a leafblower takes about twice as long to move a
pile of leaves as a rake does.

But hey, you get to burn some gasoline!

20. I feel your pain, as well...
But my problem has been lawn mowers. I guess any loud noise at that hour can grate on your nerves. I put off snow blowing late at night, since I'm up and I need to do this, but put it off, out of respect for my neighbors. I just wish that they'd show the same courtesy.:-(
