Ever have a week--or a month--when you just do one stupid thing after
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 07:13 PM by mycritters2
another? I'm in the middle (or, hopefully, at the end) of such a period. Here's what I did:

I moved last week, from one house to another in the same town. A whole bunch of parishioners helped. Those who were working in my den thought they were doing me a favor by setting up my desk, including placing a box of checks in easy reach. I have no idea where they found 'em, but the checks they set there were from an old account in the town where I lived 2 years ago. I thought I had destroyed all those checks.

I emptied a checkbook, and grabbed another from the box on my desk. For little less than a week, I've been writing checks willy-nilly, on a closed account. I realized my error today, and after work went from one business to another trying to correct my errors. The grocery store and Papa John's say there's nothing they can do--I'm going to hear from their collection agencies. But the Ford dealer the bread store were really very kind and understanding.

Then there's my food co-op coordinator. Ever have someone you screw up with more than any person on the planet? In general, I'm a responsible and organized adult. BUt if I'm going to be late to a meeting, or, yes, bounce a check, it'll be one involving the food co-op. The coordinator seems somewhat unpleasant with most people, just generally unhappy. But me, well, me she HATES.

So, I go to see her, explain the situation, and stand there for 10 minutes while she gives me this red-faced lecture about what a pain in her ass I am. I listened, handed her the check on the RIGHT account with extra for any service charge, and pointed out that her temper tantrum hadn't really made anything better. Wished her a good evening, and left.

I do feel like an idiot. But I've done what I can to make things better. I've also shredded the old checks. I hope this is the end of my idiot period.

Tbanks for reading!!

1. Ehh, it is completely understandable what happened
Moving is confusing.

As for having one of those weeks myself, yeah I have had a 41 year week that is like that. :)

4. I'm on a streak
6 months and counting.

My latest fuck up was going over the limit on my credit card last month, not knowing it til I got the statement, which means I have gone over this month as well.

I can relate.

Hope it gets better soon.

6. Yes. I had a bad month.
Lost my temper with a good friend, trying to find a way to make up for it.

Lost my keys several times, find them.

Forgot to pay a bill, now I have a late fee.

Lots of things, comes from being to busy and stressed out.

I need a vacation.

Just take a deep breathe and try again.

8. I dreaded talking to her
I knew she'd explode, so I just stood there and took it. Do people like that really think their screaming matters, that I thought "This kind of thing makes Chris really pissed--I'd better not do it again!"? I mean, seriously.

9. I wonder if they go home and brag about how they got you
to grovel and see how powerful they are.

12. I groveled to everyone else, because I really did feel bad about
the mix-up. But her, I just explained it sans emotion, stood there while she vented, and handed her a check.

The whole Domniatrix thing, well, ewww.
