How about some opinions on this... emigrating to England.

I have visited and traveled there several times and absolutely love it. I know every country has problems but what do you all see as advantages and disadvantages to living in England. I know the dollar sucks vs. the pound but other than 'it's so expensive' (which it is!) I'd like to hear your ideas.

I understand it's not exactly easy at the moment.

I can't really compare it with America as I've never been there, but I wouldn't consider living anywhere else.

It is expensive compared with the U.S. - especially housing.

A big advantage is easy access to Europe. I could leave my house in the morning and be in Paris by lunch-time, no joking...plus of course longer vacation time to spend there as well.

4. It's Not Easy

I have UK citizenshipe because of my father. This allows me to work anywhere in Europe where an EU passprt is allowed. However, I choose to stay in Canada. It's a much nicer Country and whenever I go overseas and people find out that I am Canadian........they are much nicer to me. I have seen American people treated like dogshit just because of where they came from. So unfair. I have many American friends who are decent people and don't deserve that sort of treatment. But that's the world these days. Your current president plays a big part in that I believe.

i would definitely not do it if they are going to make you fly w. current restrictions, if this crap lasts only a few days while they round up any remaining plotters, that's one thing, to curtail your right to have a carry-on when traveling by air forever, that is quite another

would you be willing to put your family thru all that to visit you?

a UK passport -- and even as a physician with a British mother (and her older brother has one), it isn't easy.

then again I've always lived here and never in the US. The Health Service and the remnants of Socialist advances have got be a big plus.

Also, great though London is, there are many, many less expensive but wonderful areas to live here.
