Name a distinguishing characteristic about yourself...
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 02:04 AM by Wetzelbill
Physical or otherwise, it doesn't matter.

Ok, I have a few obvious ones, height, sense of humor and so forth, but I will go with something a little less obvious.

I have some serious cauliflower ear going on. The right one.

8. But it's true!
Seriously; I've had 4 different people in different parts of my life say that to me, all at the oddest times, too. I'm not sure what it meant (besides the obvious, I mean) in the abstract, but it was a series of moments I've never forgotten...

Another road trip? When was your last one? Is that the reason we didn't see you online?

19. It was a protest arrest, but the charges were reduced.
Originally I was charged with some long bullshit like "entering a military installation for an unlawful purpose," which is a federal misdeanor ($500 fine/up to 6 months jail), but it was eventually reduced to a trespassing violation with a $100 fine.

Anyway, at court I still had to get processed as a "Federal prisoner" even though I was never inside a jail at all during this. Big form with all my personal characteristics (it even asked me to list my 'Known Associates and Locales'), fingerprints and a mug shot.

Don't wanna go into details, except to say the skin was taken from my left thigh, and because of that and a few other procedures, I am alive today. What's a few scars in the face of possible death?

Apparently somewhat resemble this famous dude, or can get away with maximizing such resemblance

On the subject of resembling people, apparently have several exact doppelgangers floating about, at least one of whom is a bit of a larrikin

Some distinctive scars from distinctive injuries

Spend 90% of my time dressed either in (i) boxers (only wear 'em for sleep and lounging, not as underwear), (ii) Elvis jumpsuits, or (iii) black leather motorycycle gear. On the positive side, the fact that most of my clothes are in storage in another state doesn't matter too much, because I hardly ever wear 'regular' clothes any more.

I am a god underwater. :D Unfortunately, it's been a while... :-(

Have a sizeable and very sharp-looking piece of metal in my right foot that just showed up on X-ray a few years ago...it's the sort of thing that could only have arrived there through a traumatic and very bloody injury, but I've had no such injuries involving wicked-looking shrapnel and I don't feel anything from it. It's not an artefact of the X-ray because when I had my foot X-rayed (for a minor injury) they did two angles and, sure enough, the thing was in both shots and looked consistently three-dimensional. My X-rays remain the best evidence I've seen to date for alien abduction... :o

59. Yeah...I find myself suddenly remembering it, every now and then,
and it still makes no sense. That part of my foot sustained a very serious and very gory injury when I was a kid (almost lost my big toe...impressive scar there to this day) but no metal was involved. Besides, I'm pretty sure I had a foot X-ray in my 20s and I sure don't remember any unauthorized alloys therein.

Cue Twilight Zone theme...

61. Nope...no invasive procedure when I injured myself and the cut was
right where my big toe joins the foot...this metal's a bit more proximal, in the ball of the foot. I haven't seen the X-ray in ages but it's a slightly curved piece of what is almost certainly metal (I think vaguely shaped like an isoceles triangle, with the sharply pointed corners turned up a little), not too thick but big enough that I'll never understand why I don't feel it (or, of course, how I didn't notice its entering my body). Weird.
