The Verve, Buzzcocks, Stone Roses, Oasis...
Of all these bands....which one defined the brit-pop-supernova?

2. Blur.
But from your list I'd have to pick Oasis (even though I despise them with all of my being). Stone Roses was by far the most talented.

9. But you could take into account

the Blur v. Oasis sorta "batle of the bands" thing that went on for so many years. It's really that rivalry that defines modern "Brit Pop" for me.

edited to add "modern"

6. I wish someone could beat up Oasis for their lack of originality alone.
I thought they stank.

10. Oh thank you, I am not the only one.
Jesus, Oasis is to John Lennon what Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush is to Hendrix. Oasis lyrics are even Lennony, filled with hallmark card pretentious philosophy and cute contradictions, yuck, gag, barf.

13. ... delivered in that relaxed Lennony timing...
by the way, I think you've coined a new word: "Lennony" - to be John Lennon-like

7. I gotta say The Buzzcocks.
They came and went so fast, but they left a big mark on the music scene. I'm just sorry "Orgasm Addict" didn't get more airplay. :( Great music, but their label did not support them well and basically abandoned them.

8. Buzzcocks, for sure.....
but, I would say that XTC was a major UK pop influence for later bands.

11. Out of those, I'd have to say Oasis. But try this...

One of the most worn out CD sets I own. It's got Paul Weller and Massive Attack all in one! And it's a great movie.
