1. It was 21 years ago for me

The college radio station was doing a thing called the Hate Show where listeners could make dedications to people they hated. Someone had a roommate who wanted to get her to participate in some sordid scene so the DJ played Orgasm Addict. I didn't get around to buying any of their music until a couple of years ago when I picked up a copy of Singles Going Steady which I highly recommend. Thanks for the post since I was wondering what I should listen to.

Opening theme song is " Why Can't I Touch It". Fairly crappy movie but awesome soundtrack.
There is one song I've been trying to find but I don't know it's name or the artist. From the drug party scene, if you remember the movie.

Note: I used to know the girl who played Natasha, Robin Harlan. She is now a successful foley artist.
She used to throw great parties.

The song I'm looking for is the one in the scene with the girl dancing with the bare light bulb. It's an awesome song but I forgot to check the credit to see the name of the song or the artist. I guess I'll have to get it on netflix again to find out.

10. I owe a lot to the Buzzcocks

Back in '81 when I was 13 my older sister gave me a cassette with the Buzzcocks, Gang of Four, The Dead Kennedys, and Oingo Boingo on it. Suddenly Aerosmith et al wasn't so exciting anymore. Not only did that tape turn me onto a whole new kind of music, it opened my mind to a whole new way of thinking. I realized that corporate rock was conformity packaged as rebellion.

Soon after I bought the "Not So Quiet On The Western Front" compilation from Maximum Rock-n-Roll and was never the same since.

12. There really is a relationship between being anti-corporate

rock and anti-corporate in general. I was into SST records in the 80's. Their motto was 'Corporate Rock Sucks.'

Pretty soon you realize that you don't have to take ANY of what the man is giving you. It is all manufactured drivel with no soul. That goes for any product/service, not just music. No Thanks Man!

20. I highly recommend Diggle's solo and Flag of Convenience stuff

He's the unsung part of that band. Devoto and Shelley got all the ink, but he's terrific. I preferred the songs he contributed most of time anyway. Harmony in My Head rules!

But his Flag of Convenience stuff, hard to find, is much more political, as the bandname might hint. 50 Years of Comparative Wealth and In the Back leap to mind, but a lot of his stuff is political. Again, tough to find, particularly on CD, but worth searching out. I have two CDs, and the rest on vinyl, but he has a recent CD out that is impossible to locate.
