Me, it's all about scientology:

1. Danny Elfman - Good god, the man is a freakin' genius when it comes to Oingo Boingo music, but he seems too smart to fall for Scientology.

2. Isaac Hayes - Just listened to a show of his from 1999, and it's spectacular. Only two problems: one, his use of cheesy keyboard brass, and two, Scientology.

3. Chick Corea - See above.

4. Honorable mention - Sheryl Crow, because of what she did to Kevin Gilbert. I don't care if she's the ultimate Democrat, I hate her.

4. None
What's religion got to do with it? Politics, either. Good music is good music.

5. I don't judge musicians by their religion
I judge them by their art. If they are good artists, I will listen to them no matter what their religion is. Likewise if they're bad artists, I will turn them off, no matter what their religion is. Same goes with actors and other artists. Their religion is a private matter, and if they don't try to cram it down my throat, then I don't care who or what they worship.

I've always thought this notion of basing one's listening, watching, reading habits on people's religious/political beliefs to be rather foolish. It seriously limits one's options for entertainment and education.

6. Sheryl Crow Kevin Gilbert
Stone also says that Crow betrayed Gilbert with her own record company. "When Sheryl Crow hit it big, Kevin realized he had to get his own record deal," explains Stone. "He realized he could walk into A&M and say, 'These are my songs.' But she told them that she was just being nice to everyone by mentioning him in the liner notes. She said he didn't have anything to do with these songs. That pissed him off and got him depressed."

A publicity person at A&M Records in Hollywood said Crow had no comment on Gilbert's death.

Then again, I can't take "Dharma & Greg" seriously because of that...

12. Locking.
There's a separation of art and religion. It doesn't matter; otherwise, it might be called bigotry.
