1. I love the fact that we can converse in such a free manner.
I hope it will be able to continue.

2. Thanks, MrScorpio, we love you too! I love our Constitution,
the diversity of people in this country, the wilderness areas (my favorite being the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness), and Alaskan King Crab with butter. Lots of butter.
:-)

4. I love our vices, and our freedom to indulge in them
I love musicians who imbibe and hurt ears, movies with blood and breasts---though not necessarily together--and all art that promotes anti-authoritarianism, pre-marital sex, drunkenness, public nudity, absurd vandalism, sports stars who gloat, the middle finger during traffic, jobs where you don't have to shower, loud arguments in bars, and unhealthy food, to name a few. And when people say that we're spreading "freedom," that's the kind of freedom a lot of people want, not the freedom to go to church more. Or, to quote an Iraqi whose name I can't recall, "Democracy Whiskey Sexy!"

Seriously, one word: freedom. The Reich wing can never take that away.

to you, dear, sweet MrScorpio -- that hatred is (I can't say wrong) absolutely wasteful, even for the evil. Even for anti-Americans. Even for the ultra-rich who do not share. Even for nasty booger pickers at work. And even for Republicans.

I am grateful to be an American.

18. Bob Marley sang 'One good thing about music, when it hits
you feel no pain.'

That is how I've always viewed music. It hits you or it doesn't. And Tom T. Hall's music hits me.

13. The MUSIC
From jazz to country, from blues to gospel, from rock and roll to the avant-garde - America gave the world some of the finest music, especially in the 20th Century. It's a rich universe I have dedicated my life to mining.

19. I love that we can deal with serious problems...
Not solve them mind you, but at least confront very divisive issues without flying apart at the seams...
