1. Currently inkless

I've never been opposed to getting a tattoo, just never found one I really like enough to get.

2. I've always been skeptical of the whole idea

of getting one tat, seems like most people end up regretting it, usually picking something in youth that becomes meaningless or silly and often ugly later in life.

To me if you're going to get a tattoo it should have a deep timeless meaning and I always figured that becomes essentially true for people who get large portions of their body covered. But I've never personally felt that urge.

My wife for the last several years has been talking about getting a small tattoo and I've pushed back, just playing contrary advocate but she's getting real close to going through with it now. I've always shook my head at what appeared to be a mid-life grab at a youthful expression.

Yet...I must admit I'm now finding myself considering it somewhat seriously for only the second time in my life (I came real close in college)...perhaps I'm falling victim to the same mid-life silliness I've been accusing my wife of :) (I haven't told him what the picture is for)

I've even gone so far as to ask my son to sketch up the idea I had. Of course there's another rub isn't there...if my wife and especially if we Both get tattoos how do we address it when almost inevitably my son comes to us in his teens wanting one.

3. I was this morning when I got off work.

I cleaned out blue ink traps last night at work and got it all over my torso (don't ask).

A nice shower cleaned it right off. For about six hours there, I looked like a smurf.
