2. I haven't got any, not even my ears
I figure in my age group that's a lot more unusual than punching holes in my face, nips, naughty bits or whatever.

4. Wow, that is unusual
Every woman I know has pierced ears. My second ear piercing hurt like hell for some reason, so I stopped with that. I'm not fond of pain. Especially in my naughty bits.

12. My mom told me only trashy women had pierced ears. LOL
I've been getting visited by my parents in my dreams the last ten days or so. Maybe Mom has figured out a way to fuss at me from beyond the grave--if anyone could do it, she could. A bit overprotective, that one.

14. My mom said that pierced ears made you look like a Ubange.
She eventually got hers pierced at age 51, which was around when she met my now-stepdad, cut her hair & got highlights. I yelled at her for getting her ears done with a gun though, when she knew better.

30. oh in 1966 when I did mine that was true.if you lived in a small
town in Kentucky. I couldn't wait to get to college and get my ears pierced. My grandmother had pierced ears and I always wanted them. Always. She was second generation Norweigan and it never went out of fashion in Europe. Then I went to Europe when I was about 11 and all the girls who had European moms (who had married GIs) and the girls you saw out and about off the base had them and the earrings were so neat. I wanted them even more.

So, when I got to college, one of the gals did them and did a great job. Needle, match, alcohol, cork and ice. No infections, no problems. No regrets and she did my cousin too when she came to visit for a weekend

31. I hope she doesn't meet my mom
I don't need my mom complaining about my messy house from beyond. At least when she was living I could offer her the chance to clean it if she'd like.

5. If you like them, get them. If not, don't.
My ears are quite pierced. Other than that, I have a tiny diamond nosestud (people don't even notice it most of the time). I used to have my navel pierced, but the jewelery fell out while I was sleeping and it closed up. I was sad because I had a cute little Om barbell in it. I have my piercings and tattoos only for me. I never did it to be different. I do it because I like the way the piercings look. I have my own reasons for the tattoos.

7. It's a done deal for me.
I finally got the teeny tiny diamond nose stud two days ago that I've wanted for at least two years. My husband hasn't noticed yet. One son loves it, one son hates it, one daughter said, "Go, Mom!" and the other said she thought something was different, but she thought it was my hair color. No one at work has noticed it, at least not to say anything.

I love it. It immediately looked like it belonged there.

Your ears are beautiful, by the way. :-)

I got my tattoo when I was 50, and I am considering another when I turn 60.

8. Thank you.
I have seven tattoos. They're all relatively easy to cover. The most noticeable ones are the Celtic trinity knots on my inner forearms. I'm saving up for my big one. A Celtic cross on my back with "For My Father" written in Gaelic around the top. Obviously, it's in memory of my Dad.

9. Cool!
I have a triple moon on the inside of my right ankle, and I'm thinking of adding some celtic knotwork all the way around. I have cankles, so usually I'm in pants or a long skirt.

6. easier to "hide" than tats, if you need to go "normal"
I have two in one earlobe and three in the other, would probably do navel if it was on a thinner person. Maybe a notrill if I wasn't a middle-aged mom in a rural community. I'm wierd enough going barefoot everywhere. Don't really like seeing various oral peircings but over all they don't bother me.

17. Interesting.
I wonder if girls find it attractive or if a little piece of jewelry can change a person's presentation of "hir"self.

When I had to give a presentation at a symposium I drew upon my inner Madeline Kahn. Sort of a Lily von Shtupp without the accent, costume, song, dance, or corny jokes, but all the chutzpah.

You had to be there, I guess. :silly:

I got my ears pierced for my 11th birthday. Mom didn't want me to do it, but I insisted. I'm glad I did.

I'm way too chicken to have any other piercings! :P

32. That sounds just like me.
I was 10 when I got my ears pierced and I know if I had to do it today I wouldn't. I don't like pain... or even discomfort if it can be avoided. I've sometimes thought about getting a second piercing in each ear but I'm a coward!

29.  My daughter is a piercer/tattoo artist., and I have neither. Just
the normal ones for one pair of earrings. I will never get another piercing, as I have just never liked the multiple piericng look for me.

Looking through the magazines in her shop, seeing some of the things people do to themselves is a real eye opener though. I think the topper was facial spikes on a young woman who quite possibly was quite beautiful under all that metal. Eewww!

I do appreciate tattoos more than I once did. still don't want one, but when I see a really well done one I compliment it, having learned the difference.
