I don't care what anyone says! Chiropractors RULE!!!
I get my pain in the neck region and just starting seeing a Chiropractor again. Just got back from a session with probably one of the loudest cracks I've ever heard.

But damn, if my neck not only is feeling better but has much more movement to it

Anyone else a fan of Chiropractors?

3. So I should take prescription pain killers instead?
I mean, that's my option for dealing with the pain that I have

6. That's just my opinion.
It has no basis in fact whatsoever.Went to one once and it was a bad scene.I actually laughed in his face when he asked me to lay on his wooden roller recliner for 30 minutes. What the hell is that suppose to do?

12. You should find a good Osteopathic Doctor.
I swear by mine and have been able to rid myself of painkillers (for the most part due to bone troubles) and I don't have to be constantly "adjusted". :hi:

17. A chiropractor got rid of my sister's chronic headaches.
She went regularly at first, but now she probably only goes about once every six months. If the headaches come back, then she goes for an adjustment. For her, she doesn't have to go constantly.

sometimes I wish he would go back to him, but I just never found them to be useful for my problems. :hi:

A friend from high school is now one and I so wish he lived nearby. I'd be there every single day to get my upper back popped.

5. I used to go to the chiropractor at my gym
But that was mainly because he would prescribe massage therapy for the knots in my neck and upper back. The massage therapist not only had great hands, but was this great looking guy! Rubbing me all over, hmmmmm......

Oh, and my insurance paid for it!! What could be better?

:loveya: Now I have to find a new one. When he got a good crack out of me, he'd say, "That was good for me. Was it good for you?"

He cured harleykid's migraines by adjusting her neck. I'm sold! :bounce:

9. You'll get no argument from me
I've been to regular doctors when my back or neck has been out of whack - they always tell me it's a "pulled muscle" and tell me to rest, take muscle relaxers and painkillers and I'll feel better in about 6 weeks.

My chiropractor, on the other hand, gives me a nice massage, does some deep tissue stimulation with ultrasound and then adjusts the problem area, giving me immediate relief with no narcotics.

I was just at her place on yesterday because on Sunday, I managed to dislocate two ribs. She got them back in place and I feel so much better. Still a little sore, understandably, but no longer in screaming pain and off center.

11. DO fan here. They use many of the same manipulations.
Osteopathic medicine is the best.

My only experience with a chiropractor was non-chiropractic related. I used to go to a laundry mat and got to know the man who ran it really well (he was also a bookie).

One day, a friend of his was in chatting it up. The man stood up and abruptly fell over, gashing his face on the way down. (we found out later he had had a stroke). Someone ran next door to grab the chiropractor. He came over and just stood there. He knew CPR ( I later got my certificate because of this event) but didn't not want to get blood on his suit. I know it is not indicative of all chiropractors but this guy was a jerk.

The man, unfortunately, died. :(

13. I have a great chiropractor
He uses an "activator" rather than the whack and crack method, which I'm not fond of.

Difficult to explain the technique if you haven't experienced it, but it works. Rarely do I need more than one adjustment... until I do the next stupid thing to my body.

15. It works, but I wish they'd study why
The "science" behind chiropractory is pretty bunk. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work - if the AMA were to ever get off their ivory tower and study it, they'd probably find the scientific principle behind it's sucess. And I think that sucess is more than just psychosympotmatic.

16. Me, too!
My chiropractor checks for misalignments in my back by using kinesiology. He makes me try to hold my leg up while he's trying to push it down. I try as hard as I can to hold it up, but I can't if I'm out of alignment. The leg that won't stay up tells him what side to work on and then he does this thing where he turns me into a pretzel and crunches me and then I can hold the leg up. Oh, and the pain in my back is gone also. I can see where the pain being gone would be subjective and perhaps psycho ... what you said. But the leg thing is pretty amazing. One time, I could hold both legs up and then he tested something else (can't remember what). That problem was in a different spot than normal.

19. Love 'em
I've been seeing chiropractors off and on for years for neck and elbow problems. I've had surgery, physical therapy and all sorts of drugs and nothing helps more than adjustments, ultrasound, cold laser therapy and -- ahhhh -- massage. :toast:

24. Yes, the right ones do
For those who are saying they are all quacks should realize that some M.D.s are not always fully capable. Just like a family doctor,
you have to hunt and find a good Chiropractor.

I ruptured a disc in my back in Feb. and the guy I went to had me walking (slowly) within two days. No surgery required! The best part
was that my insurance picked up most of the cost!

26. I wish I could agree with you
But I tried on last summer for lower back pain and he ended up aggravating what turned out to be a severely herniated disc. His "adjustments" most likely irritated the nerve bundle even more. T

he part that really gets me is that I told him that it hurt every time he "adjusted" that hip. He told me it was because I was fighting it. I won't even get into the homeopathic shit he wanted me to buy to help with my back pain.

BTW, before anyone says this guy was a bad chiropractor, he's one of the top practitioners in Chicago and was highly recommended. I checked him out thoroughly before I made the first appointment. http://www.progressivechiropractic.com As you've probably guessed, I will never see another chiropractor again.

28. Chiropractors should be used in conjunction with your family doctor
I think one of the biggest problems is too many people just assume that Chiros will fix the job. Before I went to this chiro I'm using now, I had been to my family doctor and had a set of X-rays. Even she said a chiro could best help what was ailing me.

29. My internist recommended him
They're in the same building. Like I said, this chiropractor was very well recommended. My doctor ended up apologizing to me for it, luckily his next recommendations were for a pain specialist and an orthopedic surgeon.
